Samsung's customer service varies from terrible (smartphones) to excellent (SSDs), so I was wondering what their customer service is like for laptops.

Their computer support is between those two. Many of the support staff could do with developing a deeper understanding of the hardware and software they are providing support for.

That's unfortunate. As someone who's gotten used to business-class support, I don't think I have it in me anymore to teach a CSR about their own product, or to play along with a script. I suppose I'll have to look elsewhere for my next laptop.

Alternatively, you provide your own support.

That would mean spending my own money to replace dead hardware that's under warranty.
Or did you mean that Samsung has a program where they reimburse you for the cost of any repairs that you do on your own? -

I mean that you don't spend time trying to get Samsung support to trouble-shoot your problems. You only contact them when you have strong evidence that you have a hardware problem that is covered under warranty (having done your legal homework on the difference between fair wear and tear and manufacturing deficiencies).
