Please read this carefully, so there is no confusion, lol

I have a Samsung laptop, which I bought in 2010. It has a DVD drive, and like most of them you can only change the DVD region 5 times , after the 5th time the DVD drive locks on to the last region you set it too

I changed it a few times, but didn't count it at the time of doing it.... BUT when I checked the DVD drive properties, it says that there are 2 changes remaining. It also says it is set to region 2, the region I want.

When I bought the Jurassic Park DVD box set yesterday, which is Region 2 , and put the first films disc in... the DVD just spins, and the drive just makes these sounds as it attempts to read it. I then tried the rest of the box set, and the same thing happens. Then I decided to try my Batman DVD , which is also REGION 2, just to make sure, but when I put it in the drive, it played fine.

I thought that it must have been a fault with the Jurassic Park discs, so took it back and replaced it with a new one. It still won't play, and the same thing happens. So I tried a few of my other Region 2 DVD's, and the same thing happens with them, the spinning and the sounds, etc.... but no play. So I tried one of my Region 1 discs, and that doesn't play either. << ?? I had no trouble playing my discs a few months ago. ALL my discs are clean, I checked, but the DVD drive is not reading any of my Region 2 discs, or my Region 1 discs.... except for the Batman Region 2 DVD, it only reads that and plays it

ONLY my Batman region 2 DVD plays.... no spinning or noises, etc. how is this??????

    Thanks : )

Perhaps the drive is starting to age and it's not a region setting issue. There can also be small manufacturing differences between discs which can cause discs to work in one drive but not in another. If the drive is tray loading then one thing you can try is to clean the lens.

You can run the free Nero Infotool to check the current region setting and changes remaining.

You can also visit this site to see if a region free firmware or other region free work-arounds available for your drive.
