My NC20 has been getting pretty hot. I've been having trouble when I do a full scan using MSE. Scans gets really hot then at some point the system shuts off.
Ideas?

Check if the fan not working (no hot air from exhaust) or the cooling system is blocked (limited flow of hot air although the fan is running fast).
Run HWmonitor or HWiFNO and check the CPU temperature. If it reaches around 95C then the computer will shut down to prevent hardware damage.

John, thanks for the reply.
I'm following this post.

I'm currently having the same issue. 3 days ago while using the computer the full screen showed about 5 different colors and then went blank. I found this website with a bunch of guys having the same problem.
My NC20 switches itself on after a while. Anyone have same problem? - Page 5
I pulled the battery, unplugged the laptop, then plugged it back in the next day or 2 as well as the battery and it is back up and running.
I have it right now sitting on a frozen cold back on the left side around the fan. I 've had to do this before while backing up.
I just downloaded HWmonitor. VIA nano currently reads 75c / 166f degrees with the ice under it. The fan isn't doing it's job.
I'm working on borrowed time now, and looking for another laptop and a good back up software to install to back up to an SD card and open up the files in another laptop. I found todo-backup.com and don't like it. Can't open the files on another laptop.
So, should I buy another Samsung?
What 12" do you consider the next step up from the NC20? And I dont want to pay more than $500 really.
Any help on back up soft ware would be great too. Thanks. -

1. NC20 fans are here. Did you look at the fan to see if it clogged up like the one here?
2. I would just copy files over to external storage (preferably HDD) without using special software.
3. If you get an external 2.5" HDD and separate enclosure then you can always put the NC20 HDD into the enclosure and plug into another computer in order to have access your files.
4. There's a shortage of small and cheap Samsung notebooks. There's an 11.6" notebook/tablet with removable screen but it's well outside your price range. The manufacturers are dropping the smaller, cheaper notebooks in favour of tablets.

Thanks ,excellent feed back. I'll pull it apart and check it out. I'm just not convinced based on what I'm reading that I can trust it to stay running. But with nothing to loose....
I'm signed up with Cubby.com which I seldom use,and have a portable HDD but its a of couple days away from me, and I didn't want to shut down until I was sure to back up.
