Hi there I would like to know what screen exactly is on the NC10 netbook. I really love it and I wonder if it exist in a larger format, to do a conversion on a 12.1 inch laptop i have. In order to do that I need to know what kind of screen it is exactly and if Samsung sells a 12.1 WXGA in the same screen and matte as well. Thanks

Go into Device Manager, select whatever in under the monitor group (probably Generic PnP Monitor) then select Properties, click on the Details tab and scroll down the list to Hardware ID. There should be an entry MONITOR\*******, where ******* represents a letter and number code.

The first three letters are the manufacturer. SEC is Samsung. The NC10 that I reviewed (follow link below) had a CPT04C4 (Chunghwa Picture Tubes).

Matte means that it has a coating to make a non-glossy surface. This means that the user does not get problems with reflections of lights, windows or even one's own face. The disadvantages of matte are (i) the coating increases the production cost and (ii) there is a small loss of brightness and contrast. The NC10 has this type of screen which is usually available on notebooks aimed at business customers. If you a looking for a 12.1" matte screen then look at business notebooks. The 12.1" screen on Samsung's NC20 netbook is glossy and, in my opinion, the biggest deficiency of the NC20.
