Well after much deliberation i ended up getting 2 laptops.

I thought i recieved very little help (although i realise that most members are US and might now the UK market), after hours and hours of surfing the net and looking in person at them i decided to chence my arm. :) So i hope this may help someone who may be in the same boat as me.

1.HP DV7 Uk version for multimedia home purposes which was absolutley no good for taking to work.

    2.Samsung 300E5A Again UK
    Whats in it.

    Intel I3
    6 GB Ram
    500 GB Hard Disc
    Intel 3000 intergrated GPU
15.6" Matte screen.....(Absolutley love this for sitting in the van.)

But enough of that lets get down to what i think about it.
Having first had a HP DV4000 About 6 year Dell XPS1530 this is the one.

    What i like.
    1. Screen Matte screen, very narrow bezel Fabulous, excellent brightness, pin sharp.
    2. Battery I must be charging every 3-5 to 5 hours, that includes surfing, use of Optical drive and watching MKV files. Brightness set at about 50-75 %
I believe that i amy get more if i turn off the battery life extender where it only charges up to 80% to preserve battery to 1000 + charges. ( Can some one help me/explane this further)
    3. Mouse trackpad Loverly smooth operation opposed to Dell and even new HP DV7
Small negative left and right buttons do click a little louder than others.
    4. Fan What fan i say its nearly silent (it might run every 10 mins for about 20 seconds.
    5. Keyboard Very fluent island chicklet style, very little pressure needed.
    6. speed.Blinding. goes to sleep when i close the lid starts back up in about 3 seconds ::::SHOCK::::
    7. Power lead/Brick(small stone more like it's tiny) HP DV7 is probably 3x bigger. Dell 2 x bigger.
    8. Weight very light compared to all my other laptops.
    9. Software Samsung easy settings is a boon for setting up your laptop.
Slight negative there is some bloatware but not as much as HP & Dell.
    10. Function key lock (i find handy)
    11. Heat or lack of it very cool running.
    12. Fingerprint free lid. I like the Lambert & Butler (seen elsehwhere) cover with ribbed lines.
    13. Have i already mentioned the brilliant screen. :)

    Negative.
    1. Sound Not as bad as Dell, but not as good as Beats audio with sub on HP DV7 However you can mess around with different settings which make it better.
Sound overall 7 for a laptop.
2.build. Lid is plastic and there is quite a flex in the screen so i might have to look after that. However palmrest and keyboard are pretty much solid.
    3 No USB 3
    4. CD/DVD draw feels a little cheap.
    5. No caps lock or num lock led (although it does show an on screen icon for a couple of seconds.

So there you have it. i will give it 8.5 out of 10.

If anyone wants any more info just post here.

For me Samsung from now on i think.

    Cheers Jed

Thanks for your comments. However, did you mean "dislike"
    or should it be "like"?

So, overall you sound well pleased with your purchase. Long may the feeling continue!

    1. You can try tweaking the audio settings but some small external speakers will usually beat any internal notebook audio.

    2. For nice solid display backs you have to spend more money for the metal in the Series 7 or Series 7. The carbon fibre in my expensive Lenovo T420s seems to have failed to provide proper protection.

    3. USB 3.0 is currently over-rated. Personally, I would have liked manufacturers to continue with the eSATA combo ports for external storage.

    4. All the slim tray loading optical drives are quite flimsy but I still prefer them to slot loading drives which sometimes don't regurgitate their food.

    5. My NP900X3B has a light on the CapsLock key but doesn't have a NumLock key at all. I've got FnLock instead. I think all the manufacturers are cutting costs by leaving off the indicator lights. I can't see if the storage is being accessed.
