I got my NC ten two days ago and it worked great..
however, there was static noise came from the bottom left speaker..it didnt go away.. so I opend the bottom to see waht the problem was.. When I pull out the speaker plug, no static noise.. but when I reconnect the sound came back up on and off.. Its very annoying..
Second proble that I got is some of the buttons on keyboard are not working..
button one, two, five, seven, nine, dash button, Tab button and Caps Lock :( I uninstalled the keyboard driver and reinstall it but that didnt solve the problem. I did bios update and chipset update but no luck..
    Can anyone help me please.

As far as your speakers go - first connect a set of external speakers to determine if it's an audio signal issue or strictly a speaker/connection issue.
If you get no static, then it's a speaker issue or its connection.

Keyboard - You didn't say exactly how they're not working. Are they not working at all, or are they typing out different characters than they're supposed to? If they're typing out different characters, that's addressed on the Samsung Support site for your system. They don't have very much information on problems, but they haven't been in the notebook game very long either.

If they don't push down all the way to print a character on the screen - Most keys are designed to pop off the key plunger that actually pushes on the keyboard to activate the individual character so that they can be cleaned or replaced, and so any dirt or debris can be cleaned from under them. Dirt and debris is the biggest problem when keys don't function/can't be pressed down all the way. Most people don't realize how fast dust and dirt/skin particles from our hands gets under the keypads. I blow out underneath my keys weekly, and sometimes even have to pop off the keys to get some stuff out. On other systems I've worked on for servicing, hair, skin particles, dust, etc. you name it and it will get under the keypads.

To blow out underneath the keys, use a pair of small pliers to crimp the end of the long thin plastic tube that attaches to the air can nozzle. This will compress the airflow into a much thinner airstream as it comes out and make it easier to blow out underneath and between the keys.

To pop off the keypad, use a thin, stiff, non-conductive tool - I use a wooden Q-tip (the long kind they use for a throat culture), but it doesn't make any difference so long as it's not sharp, abrasive or conductive. If you have to use a thin screwdriver, wrap it with electrical tape first so it doesn't mar anything or contact any possible exposed circuit pads. Most of today's keyboards are protected directly underneath the keypads by a layer of mylar, plastic or other material that prevents liquid and other stuff from getting to the circuit board that really is the keyboard.

You should also check Samsung Support, though there's not much there as I said.

    Thank you for the reply.
I think first problem is hardware issue.. seems like speaker cable interfares with something and causes static noise.

As for the keyboard, every keys are working good except those keys.. When I press down nothing happens.. Also this net book is only three days old..so, I dont think it is dirty or anything.. Im thinking maybe this netbook is defective unit.. funny how certain keys are not working at all..
If it is software issue, reinstalling a OS would solve this problem?

I would contact Samsung support and describe the problems (but best not to mention that you have been inside). I suspect that there is an assembly problem. Since the computer is only a few days old then it should be classified as "Dead on Arrival" and they will arrange a replacement, probably by giving you a reference number which you can give to the retailer who will arrange to do a swap.

I would love to use the warranty however, I am currently in Iraq and it's not that easy.. :(
I am thinking that Keyboard is a defect..but funny how it worked for two days before give out..
I used gerber to open this netbook and.. stripped some screws and scratches here and there.,. It didn't turn out well...
Sound problem is fixed for now..played with the cable worked..
Currently I am using a usb keyboard..
I am so dissapopinted with SAMSUNG.. I think it will be my last product that I will buy from them.. Previously I had samsung UMPC which didn't last long..
Before NC10, I had three Asus eees and they all worked really well. Big dissapointment with samsung..which cost about $100 more..
I must say it's a nice looking netbook..until it worked.
I think I'm gonna sell this one with usb keyboard to someone and get another ASUS.. unless if I can find a replacement keyboard.
Is there any website that sells parts for NC10?
I checked out ebay and samsungpc.com but no luck.
    Thank you.

regardless of the problems you may have with where you are currently situated samsung have provided you with a warranty for exactly the issues you were facing so they have done all in their power to make sure your experience with their laptop is good.

no company can make products that never fail out of the box or that do not develop faults but all manufacturers provide a way to fix the faults which you chose to ignore.

dont blame samsung because you had a problem sending the unit back to the store you bought it or back to samsung for repair.

I would take the keyboard out to remove and reseat the cable. First get a small Philips screwdriver and a small flat-bladed screwdriver. Remove the screws marked "KBD" on the bottom and then push back the latches holding down the back edge of the keyboard. Then carefully lift up the keyboard in the middle to release the tabs at the side and slide it backwards to release the tabs on the front edge. Then flip the keyboard over forwards. The ribbon cable is held in a socket which has a latch. Release the latch and pull out the cable. Then replace the cable, close the latch and reassemble.

    Fatmandoo, hi.

Ive just searched google for this exact same problem. My one, two, five, seven, nine and dash keys also do not work, so at least I know its not just me who had this problem. Also, my apostrophe key doesnt work, so please excuse the bad grammar there, and theres a couple of others that dont work too. I thought maybe it was something Id done but clearly you have had almost the exact same problem. I am hoping you still visit this forum, particularly today, because Id like to know what happened with yours. I just contacted Samsung and theyre gonna take it off to repair on Monday, three days from now, but Im a little annoyed because I only got this netbook yesterday.

Please reply if you see this, or anyone else for that matter. Im dying to know what the hell is going on with this, because its a strange problem and even stranger that someone else has had the same issue.

    Thanks,

    Willy
