Hi there ... I need a good little machine for jungle use. The NC10 did great but have had to retire it. I would like to know if anyone has had heat issues with the NC110 or NC210 with dual core processors. John if you read this ... I am trying to find a review on the NC110 refresh with the N570 chip and a 320 GB HDD. Is there a similar 320GB somewhere available on the NC210? I was about to buy a EEE pc 1015PX but apparently not quite as reliable as Samsung netbooks ... Any advice ? I like the bigger HDD for movies ... having said that I also need LONG battery and a big HDD. Any idea if that solar N215S is available in UK ? Thanks

Notebookcheck has a review of the NC210 which answers some of your questions (there's also some reservations on build quality). The dual core CPU is rates at 8.5W as opposed to the single core 5.5W. That's not a lot of difference in terms of heat output but, under moderate usage, will tend to drain the battery faster.
There seem to be several reviews of the NC110 but none is very comprehensive (there is also the N110 which is older. What is the difference - CPU?).
I can't see more than 250GB offered on any of the Samsung netbooks with the N550 CPU (except for the NS310 which only has a 3 cell battery) so you would either need to do an HDD transplant or rely on external storage (high capacity flash drives are coming down in price).
Alternatively, make do with the single core CPU and get something like this and upgrade the HDD.

Hey John. Thanks for the reply. Here is the link to the latest NC110 with indeed a 320GB HDD. Just wondering about heat/battery issues. Read that NC210 review but getting conflicting reviews re hotter/cooler. Would there be any reason for the NC210 to be cooler than NC110 ? Have a look at this link and see what you think re this newest model:

That latest NC110 seems to tick the right boxes.
One reason that the NC210 may run cooler is that it has a slightly bigger fan or the fan rules got changed to make it run faster. However, more fan activity = more power consumption. Netbook CPUs don't generate enough heat for me to get worried about overheating.

True re overheating .... but I see that the new shape of the N series is slightly thinner than let's say the EEE Pc 1015PX. But then I don't think Eee PC is as reliable. Also a quick query re the bloatware Samsung puts on the N series these days. Is there any quick method to weed this out ? Can one access the recovery partition and ONLY recover Windows 7 starter and a few useful things ? I may go for that NC110 with the 320GB ... because I do not see a NC210 with that option. Thanks for the help

I don't have up-to-date knowledge about the Samsung bloatware. My normal strategy is to be cautios about uninstalling what's there (except for the anti-virus where I use NOD32) until I have understood what is there and checked the availability of the download packages.
