    Hello everyone.

I have an NP-QX411-W01UB laptop. The laptop has 2 USB 3.0 ports, which are not working right now.

I have downloaded and installed the driver's from Samsung's support site at the following URL:

    Support - Notebooks NP-QX411I | Samsung Laptops

I make sure to extract the files from USB_3.0_1.14.3.0.zip to their own folder, and then launch the installer. The installer confirms that the drivers installed correctly, but whenever I plug a USB peripheral (I've tried multiple USB drives and even my Android phone), it charges or turns on the peripheral but doesn't recognize it beyond that.

Can anyone give me any pointers on what I can do?

    Thanks!

Are the ports not working at all, even with USB 2.0 devices? USB 3.0 ports have blue tabs.

First I would look in Device Manager. Does it show any devices with crosses or exclamation marks? Then, under Universal Serial Bus controllers is there a USB controller? What make is it? Renesas or something else? If it is Renesas then look for a newer driver. There was also a recent firmware update for the USB 3.0 controller to improve recognition of flash drives but without knowing which chip you have I wouldn't recommend trying to apply it. Then, if you plug in a USB device, how does it show in Device Manager?

I have had the problem that if a computer has difficulty installing a USB device then Windows, in its infinite wisdom, effectively blacklists the device. Somewhere, there must be a guide to clearing that list.

    Hi John,

    Thanks for your help.

To answer some of your questions:

1 - The USB 2.0 port is working fine

2 - The USB 3.0 ports are not working, but the devices that I plug in can draw power from the USB 3.0 ports

3 - Under device managers, I see that the Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller is shown with an exclamation point inscribe inside a yellow triangle. Under properties, I cannot see the manufacturer of the device, but I do see "Location: PCI bus 3, devic 0, function 0."

Thanks for closing the loop on this. It looks like Samsung's USB 3.0 driver wasn't doing its job properly.
