Hello everybody, I have some problems with memory and discrete video card.

I had a problem with loading the laptop, but in the service center set bios P12ABL, and after that became visible only 6GB of RAM to 8GB. If I remove the bar at 4Gb, 2Gb it remains, possible problem in one of the memory modules soldered on the motherboard... And another problem when installing the driver on integrated / discrete video - stripes appear on the screen and the laptop freezes. Somehow managed to put the driver on integrated vidio and discrete video that something is wrong. I think to try to put the BIOS is older, maybe something will change for the better ...

Where can I find the BIOS for NP530U4C-S08RU? And how to flash it?

Sorry for my bad english :(

I wonder whether you have encountered the unfixed bug which Samsung created in a BIOS update about a year ago. The bug has affected a number of their notebook models and means that the computer becomes very fussy about the RAM that it will recognise.

You are correct that going back to an earlier BIOS should fix the problem. There is a program in this thread which will help you search the BIOS database for P11ABL (but you have to give the program a range of dates and item numbers).

This recent thread includes the command line parameters you can use to force the older BIOS to overwrite the newer one.

    Thank you!

And I have another question. Can I flash bios from P12ABL to P14AAJ ?

The BIOS updater will do its best to not let you do that.

The BIOS evolution for your notebook is probably the same as for the Series 9 of the same age: The P**AAJ BIOS would have been used for the notebooks released with Windows 7 and the P**ABL BIOS was introduced with the notebooks shipped with Windows 8. Samsung discovered that there were too many problems with updating the older BIOS for full Windows 8 compatibility that they developed a new one.

You probably got the new BIOS because the service centre replaced the mainboard.

You should be looking for a P13ABL or P12ABL BIOS to fix the RAM recognition problem. However, given that you also have graphics problems after the previous visit to the service centre wouldn't it be better to get Samsung to fix the problem?

My mistake: I meant P11ABL or P10ABL or work back to lower numbers if you can't find those. I did try and could find them. Sometimes there is a gap in the numbering of the BIOSes that get to release but it is rarely more than one missing.

Using the BIOS list here I can identify:

The original P00ABL BIOS, P02ABL, P03ABL, P04ABL, P05ABL, and P06ABL. Unfortunately, finding any newer BIOS has to be done by the trial and error method and, If you install one of those older BIOSes and run the BIOSupdate program then it will only offer the newest, which you don't want.

You would therefore have to live with the P06ABL which probably has the worst of the problems fixed.

I would like to flash P06ABL, but this has no file P06ABL.rom, but there is a file P06ABL.cap and I not found a way how to flash P06ABL.cap file.

After run BIOSUpdate.exe I see this, it is normal? :

    1. This thread discusses the two different BIOS formats. I don't have hands-on experience with fighting with BIOS issues but those with problems discovered some useful information in particular the forced overwrite command.

    2. I can't read the words but it seems to be offering that you upgrade the BIOS from P12ABL to P07AAC. Given that P07AAC is for the Series 9, it's unlikely to work. People have previously reported these mismatches on a few occasions. Rerun BIOSupdate.exe and see whether it comes up with a different answer.
