    Hi all,

I just bought a chronos and I made a clean install. Following the community advices I'm following for 2 months, I did not touch the ssd partition.

Everything is ok with my new install, the only small glitch concern the bios and the battery life manager.

When I start the computer the F2 key does nothing (it does display "loading bios...") but it finally boots to windows.
When I'm under windows, the easy settings software loads saying "driner_not_found" and the battery manager tab is there but I cannot change the 80% - 100% switch.

I also tried to update the bios, praying for a miracle, but the process fails saying that I need the easy display manager to apply the bios. This software is the old easy settings (I'm using it on my NF310 shark) and is not supported on the chronos.

It seems that there was a partition that allows the access to the bios. Of course I was over-confident and did not burn recovery discs before deleting the partition. I tried to install from the recovery dvd (windows 7 x64) but it sucks, it only contains the samsung oem windows key to allow auto windows activation, not even a driver !

Any help would be much appreciated since my bios is lock to boot on 1/DVD 2/HDD it means no more use of usb-hdd atm and the battery is stuck at 80% charge.

If any one have a solution or maybe could provide an iso of the dvd recovery burned from the recovery partition... My model is from France, 15,6", 1To HDD, 8 Go ExpressCache, 8Go RAM, Core i7.

    Merci !

What happens if you press Esc at the BIOS screen. Do you get a list of boot devices and a link to the BIOS setup? If so, what happens if you select the setup option?

    Hi John,

    Thanks for your interest.

Like F2, loading... nothing but the windows 7 boot menu.

No devices list, not a single link, it's like it has disappeared.

Your problem is very peculiar. The BIOS is stand-alone and it should be possible to get into the BIOS setup even if there are no storage devices connected to the system. I wonder what happens if you were to remove the HDD.

I agree for the bios but still...

I bet that I would have the same problem with HDD replacement.

I'll try to reach the support in my country but I'm not a fool...

I'd like to test a bios upgrade but I have no idea when the next release is coming. Meanwhile I hope that I could find an iso of the recovery partition to try that and see what happens.

PS : I can provide a ftp to upload the iso file.

    Update :

After a boot, after waiting like 5min, easy software downloader claims it is not fully installed. I tried to install it again with the right-click "as administrator" option but still got the error after a reboot.

I don't know if it can help to uderstand the problem explained in the inital post.

I can't think of any other suggestions. Let's hope that a Series 7 user has some inspiration.

The bios and/or softwares you installed... Did you get them from the US or FR website? Try installing the other version maybe?

I have a French 700Z5A too (je suis parisien... :)) and get everything from the US website, because sometimes the French versions are outdated.

I can't help much though since I haven't reinstalled Windows, I just left it as is, removing bloatware that I didn't need.

    Salut Lmkt,

    Hi Lmtk,

It seems that you are my savior ! Could you burn a recovery dvd for me ?

PS : I did try us, fr, etc... drivers.

    Hi again,

Maybe someone could provide me with an iso of the recovery disc you can burn from the samsung recovery software ?

New weird thing : I reinstalled easy settings, now it freezes my computer when I launch it...

    Thank you...

    - Update -

I have open the samsung and remove the hard disk. No more bios access. It loads a popup menu : see pic 1,2 & 3.

I prepared a hard disk drive with unibeast & lion since my first idea when buynig this product was running OSX on a cheap 15" screen. The HDD is from my old macbook white. No more bios access, it boots directly the HDD : see pic 4,5 & 6.

Hence, I do believe there is a hidden partiton with tools to access the bios. Someone could confirm ?

Tu as toujours besoin de l'ISO ? (car je l'ai fait mais pas réussi à l'uploader) // Do you still want the ISO? (I wasn't able to upload it).

    Loweack,

Pour le moment le pc est parti chez samsung pour environ 2 semaines, donc ne t'embetes pas avec ca. Je pourrais te filer un ftp pour m'envoyer le fichier si nécessaire. Merci beaucoup pour ta compassion en tout cas.

    //

    Loweack,

ATM, the computer is back at samsung office, they will try to fix the problem. I won't have my computer at home for the next 2 weeks then. Thanks a lot for your help and your compassion, If I still need an ISO after that i'll provide you a ftp server.

    Hi guys,

My samsung finally came back from technical support. I will do some tests and post more pictures (over the week-end) to try to understand/explain how the uefi bios option works !?

Loweack, I won't need the iso anymore. Thanks again.

    Hi Nyphew,

Did you manage to get into your BIOS settings?

    Thanks.
