This is driving me nuts. If I display something dark on my screen, and then display something bright, it takes about 2-3 seconds for the "bright" screen to actually become bright. It starts partially faded out, then fades-in in noticeable steps.

An example would be playing a video game. Press pause to bring up a darkened "pause" screen. Unpause, and it takes a couple seconds for the screen to be back to brightness. Or if I'm watching a cutscene, and it switches between a dark background and a light background. It's maddening.

I've tried going to Easy Settings -> Display -> and unchecked Use the auto brightness control depending on the ambient illumination. I've also unchecked Auto movie color correction.

What else can I do to eliminate this problem? thanks!

Try disable Intel DPST (Display Power Saving Technology) in Intel graphics settings.
