Quick question about connecting this notebook to a VGA projector. The search function wouldn't work, so I apologize in advance if this has been covered already.

What cable do I need to connect this to a VGA port on a projector? Would something like this work?

Also, what the hell is the "monitor port" between the usb ports and the headphone jack? Is it a display port, is it mini hdmi, mini dvi??? I've never heard of a monitor port cable.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We believe that the mini VGA port is something special to Samsung. A simple pass-though dongle should be enough to make it work if you can find someone selling one. This might be the right part. If you use the HDMI port then the dongle needs to include a digital to analog converter chip. That's the route I took for my Series 9 because I couldn't find the dongle for the VGA port.

Thanks for the help. So you're saying that cheap adapter from amazon that I linked to likely won't work? Which one did you buy? Thanks

I bought the Samsung micro-HDMI to VGA adapter described here after first trying a 3rd party adapter. However, it looks as if the Series 7 has a full-sized HDMI port.

You would therefore need a different HDMI-VGA dongle (the Series 9 has a micro HDMI port).

Alternatively, search around for the VGA dongle. This should be a much less expensive part.

And here's another thread on this subject.
