Any help on this issue is welcome please. I have tried everything i know of. Boot order in bios saves the "sata dvd ram" and the "USB hdd" "USB FDD" it even says the name of my bootable flash drive in the bios! "USB hdd sandisk cruzer". i have set them all to 1st but it just boots into windows every time. Also disabled the UEFI still no go. This laptop will not boot from cd or USB??? My CD is a retail windows 7 disk that worked fine with my np700z5c. The only upgrade is my samsung ssd 830. samsung support is no help, they said to just try again. i have restarted this thing like 44 times ahh..... any ideas?

On various Samsung series 5 and 7 laptops, I've had to make the following settings to make it boot CD/DVD and/or USB:

    1) Disable fast boot (series 5)

    2) Enable legacy USB boot (series 7)

    3) Disable UEFI (as you already did). Particularly for CD/DVD.

    4) Set the boot order, of course. Sometimes I couldn't rely on 2nd entry, but had to move my boot device to the top of the list.

In the case of USB sticks, it sometimes depends on how it was formatted. I've had ones that would boot on other laptops, but not the Samsung. I use Microsoft's USB DVD tool to write Windows ISOs to bootable USB sticks.

CDs/DVDs can be tricky if UEFI is enabled.

That's all I can think of.

On the Series 9 pressing F10 at the BIOS screen gives a one-time boot menu which seems to be reliable for selecting a boot device. This may work for your Series 7 although older Samsungs used Esc for one time boot. I presume that you have checked that you can boot your boot device in another computer.

I understand about the USB booting on other machines, but not the Samsung. I've seen that too, then once I remade the USB with the Microsoft tool, it suddenly worked. That's why I mentioned it ;)

But of course maybe you did get a lemon. Are you able to verify that the CD/DVD drive is working alright?
