Hello,
I just got this laptop yesterday from Best Buy and to my surprise, there was almost nothing in the box in terms of documentation. Most importantly, there were no CDs: no driver or setup CD of any kind and no Windows CD. There were two thin booklets and that's it.
Now, I have not purchased a laptop in the last couple of years but I have never had gotten one without anything. What are you supposed to do if something goes wrong or you need to reformat??
Has anyone bought one from Best Buy and found the same deal? Is it some mistake?

It isn't so unusual. The computer will have a recovery partition that will restore the OS installation to the out of the box state. Users aren't supposed to reinstall things nowadays

The three different Samsung notebooks I've bought recently all came with a "System Recovery Media", which is just a Windows 7 Home Premium install DVD.
That said, lots of PCs nowadays come without installation media, requiring the user to create them from the Recovery Software on the HDD. Manufacturers save about $0.20 this way
Maybe the Best Buy version is a bare bones - or maybe you got a bad box. Hopefully others can say. I didn't get mine from Best Buy.
But IF it comes without installation media, don't worry: You can download Windows 7 and install it - legally - as long as you have the product key from the Microsoft sticker on the bottom of your PC.
Since those stickers fade and wear over time, writing down that product key is a good idea. -
Hmm interesting. Thanks for the replies. I do see something called Samsung Recovery Solution 5. I guess I need to get into that.
I didn't know I could download and install Windows 7. Can I download and burn it to a dvd? -
