    Hi,

Last posted 3 years ago, hope everybody is doing okay, because I sure am not.

    Windows 8.1
    Samsung NP770Z7E-S01 PL Laptop

    Anyways, situation:

while gaming my laptop froze and threw a bluescreen, something about a thread being used by a driver (forgot the description). I restarted and all I got was a black screen. I booted into safe mode, reinstalled everything AMD related and voila, I can now see everything.

I then installed the newest AMD drivers, but again, after restarting all I got was a black screen.

Now, here comes the second part: my brother told me he had the same problem and he fixed it by plugging in an external monitor (implying that the laptop display was not the main one). So I figured I'd give it a try, but there's a problem - my laptop does not detect the monitor. I have it plugged in via VGA.

I cannot switch displays, because Windows + P and Fn + F4 shows the error "Your PC can't project to another screen. Try reinstalling the driver or using another video card.". My Intel HD Graphics 4000 driver is up to date.

So now I don't know what to do. I appreciate any and all replies.

    Thanks.

Update: I uninstalled both drivers, installed the AMD one. No black screen, but now I don't have the Intel HD Graphics driver installed. Will try to install and report back.

Update 2: right, apparently these drivers don't want to be together in my computer.

The Samsung AMD graphics drivers have always been problematic. You can find out more about what might work in this thread.

Right, so. I installed the AMD Catalyst drivers and nothing changed.

I am starting to guess that maybe my AMD GPU died...

P.S. Thanks, John, I will check that link out.

It is not just the AMD Samsung drivers having an issue. It seems AMD is having a problem with their drivers in general with older AMD GPU's.
