Hellur everyone.
I highly doubt im posting in the right place, but i just wanted to give a ltitle feeback on my experience with my chronos.
First of all. To everyone who mentions the graphics card ( many places have this issue ). As of this morning, i can play planet slide on ultra settings, with 55-60FPS. Zero issues, i can also play just about any other game ive thrown at it. This includes, TF2, most wanted, and BAF3. I am having absolutely zero issues. I can switch between graphics with ease, simply by setting which programs use it ( this includes when im editing videos, and images via photoshop, of aftter effects. Not sure what this driver issue is.. but everything works perfect from my end.
The sound, I am not sure if you guys have ever owned a sub 1k laptop before.. but they don't sound like this, The only laptop i have EVER owned that came close to this was the P400 Touch, by lenovo... and it's a retain only version, support was horrible, so i took it back.. but it provided the dobly v4 thing, quite amazing. These speakers on the chronos are probably on par, maybe a little worse than that. But i have also have the Y500, and the Q500A, the neither sounded close to this. .
Automated features, such as the backlight, and the keyboard. I have heard lots and lots of issues with this. I'll report my findings. Basically, it does exactly what its supposed to. I won't even lie.. i felt retarded and felt like i needed to take this laptop back.. beacuse the screen seemed.. underpowered, it was dim, very dim, and the keyboard was always on.. Then, i wen't outside, and the screen absolutely just shined like i've never seen a screen shine. Just because you have the brightness turned all the way up, does NOT mean it's actually all the way up. For those of you new to the chronos, what you see sitting in your living room with brightness all the way up, i can almost say with 100% certainty that, that's probably not near as bright as it gets.. I have not been able to figure a way to over ride the automation, but as long as it's gets brighter when it needs to, im happy as can be. Same with the backlight keyboard, it's not the brightest, and the Y500, and Q500A both have brighter, controllable ones, but this shines just right in the right light.
Furthermore with the screen, I personally have never owned a 1080p display before, i think the Y500 was, but i didn't have it long, but with that said, the display is probably the cleanest, crispiest beast to date. the touchscreen is so responsive, the trackpad makes me love my life, and the way it displays colors ( and lets you change the way it does it ) is just amazing. I feel like it's clearer than my HD T.v, probably because it is.
Battery life is where i've had the best luck. I will admit, i don't care for the weird power management controls to much, because it feels as though there are to many, and to many ways to screw it up. But, i got a solid 6 hours, with brightness turned all the way up, browsing here, and doing light work spread sheet editing, ect. I can only imagine how much longer i would have gotten with power saver enabled, i was on balanced. that alone makes me love this little fella even more.
the keyboard is sexy, plain and simple. Go hop on the P400 touch, or the Q500A, you think this thing flexes.. check out those. It's not nearly as nice as the red backlight Y500.. but it's on par, easily.
With all of that said, i have TWO complaints, one of which everyone complains about.. and one that many probably don't even think about.
The first is the Hard Drive.. while most computers simply have a 5.4k Drive, this one seems to be below par. I was syncing my dropbox folder, well over 10 GB, and the computer was just slow, horribly slow, i did some monitoring, and it was the disk, it was at 95-100% the entire time, it's not good at doing more than one thing at a time. so i wen't ahead and picked up a samsung SSD 500GB drive, i'll be putting that in in a few days when it arrives.
The second issue i have, is the audio jacks.. there is a single headphone, and mic input, not one for mic, and one for headphones. This makes my headset pretty much useless, im sure there is a splitter i can pick up, but i would just expect the 1.2k computer to already have it.
I hope i put this in the right place, if not i apologize. I just saw a lot of people talking about the unit, and what it might be able to do. Figured i would share my little mini review on what i think of the unitI am more than happy, and i don't think i would swap it for anything. Not even the Y580

Turn off "adaptive brightness" in the power settings

@Yillbs: No worries. Admittedly there are several other threads dedicated to this laptop, but you're fine sharing your review and experiences here. Maybe others will do the same and your thread will stay alive.
I always like reading about people who are excited and enjoy their new toy. Thank you for sharing -
Protip : don't disable the HD 4000 gpu.. you will be in a world of hurt haha. ( just learned that )
