So after a full clean 8.1 install, everything was wonderful. No issues with Wi-Fi, brightness, etc, albeit only the volume FN buttons were working.
I ran SW update and saw the following updates available:
1. BIOS
2. Brightness FN fix
3. Graphics Driver
4. Sound Driver
I proceeded to install 3, then 1, and then reboot. I had hoped that at this point things would start to look up, and indeed they have, except:
The update for the "brightness FN fix" is nowhere to be seen, since installing the graphics driver. And except for sound, none of the FN buttons work.
It is not the end of the world, but it is quite a chore to not have them available, so any help or a workaround is appreciated. Thanks.

I would try reinstalling "Settings". The newest version is listed under the NP940X3G.

Ok, it seems that everything I installed has brought back two issue from the 8.1 preview days:
1. The internet, upon waking, takes a good minute to log-in. It is nowhere near as robust of a card as in my Yoga, and that really sucks! Any advice on drivers? I've been running 8.1 drivers, will try Samsung now.
2. The touchpad sometimes stops working, and cannot be brought back unless I plug in a USB mouse (only fixes it sometimes) or restart (again, only fixes it sometimes). No amount of FN+F6 will bring the touchpad back...
Thankfully, no other issues, but these two have been plaguing the Samsung for months now... I had hoped a full updated to 8.1 would fix everything, but it has not! -

Regarding the internet, if the full Intel ProSet software is installed then try uninstalling it and using the driver only package.
And try using different driver versions for the touchpad.
