    Hello All,

I purchased an NP940X3L-K01Us and am having trouble activating Bitlocker using Windows 10 Enterprise. When I try to setup Bitlocker, I get an error after rebooting that says,

"BitLocker could not be enabled. The BitLocker encryption key cannot be obtained from the Trusted Platform Module (TPM). C: was not encrypted"

I tried clearing TPM from tpm.msc to no avail. When looking in tpm.msc. I see that it says The TPM is read for use, with reduced functionality. Not sure what that means exactly.

    Anyone have any thoughts?

    Thanks,
    Tim

Are there any TPM settings in the BIOS?

Yes. There is an on/off. And then a TPM version of 1.0 and 1.x Neither of those settings appear to make a difference.

    Thanks,
    Tim

Here's a very old discussion about Bitlocker on a Samsung notebook. Perhaps there's been no progress.

Do the description / specifications for your notebook claim that there is Bitlocker?

    HI John,

I saw that and tried what is suggested (update the bios, bootrec /fixMBR from Windows Recovery Command Prompt, clear TPM, etc.) without success.

The laptop has a TPM chip and can be seen as working in device manager. I'm just at a loss.

    Thanks for your help,
    Tim
