I searched the internet for solutions to this problem and found about 9 or 10 things to try but nothing works. I only use my series 9 pro once or twice a month and each time the battery is discharged or close to it. I would think it would last longer than 2 or 3 weeks being completley shut off with nothing connected. Has anyone found a solution for this? It looks like i might have to plug the charger in weekly to keep it from discharging.

It has been 5 days now since I shut it down with battery charge at 100%. It shows 37% charge. In just 5 days it went from 100% to 37%. Is this normal?

It has been 10 days now since I shut the notebook down at 100% charge. The battery was so low it would not even turn on. I'm guessing there is a design problem with this computer. The battery is a brand new original Samsung brand that I just installed 2 months ago. The original battery that came with the new notebook did the same thing; discharged quickly while shut down.

Are you using Windows Shutdown or just Sleep (including closing the lid)?
If the computer is merely sleeping, Windows and various apps and services will wake it up several times each day to perform updates and other maintenance. Also, the computer will be constantly listening for wake-up signals from USB, network, Bluetooth etc.
Those would explain the battery drain.
It doesn't sound like a bad battery is the problem. -
I never hit sleep. I always hit shutdown. You bring up some good points about signals which stay active like USB, network etc. waiting for a wake-up signal. My wife has inexpensive HP laptop I bought her for Christmas. It can go 3 months and still have 50 % battery life. And she does not know how to disable any devices trust me.
I am reading some research that says the lithium battery should never be charged to more than 80% or discharged to less than 20%. WOW ... I have been going from 0% to 100% from the beginning. Maybe that's why my first battery (original) only lasted 20 months.
Right now I have enabled windows 10 "battery saver" to the max. I have some devices disabled. Let's see what happens.
Thanks for your reply Dannemand. -
Just an update on my problem. Started using windows 10 battery saver and Samsung battery saver programs. With both in place I have noticed substantial improvement. The samsung program will restrict charging to 85%. The discharge rate has also gone way down. Time will tell.

my original battery did not last very long. Here is the message I got "
Got this message with a less than 2 year old notebook. I googled this message and found nothing. If you ever get this, your battery is toast.
It looks like the reason is charging from 0% to 100% multiple times. The battery will last so much longer if you can keep it between 20% and 85% charge.
The Samsung battery saver program says it will not charge more than 85% even if left plugged in. Good luck and let me know your thoughts.Attached Files:

time to find a battery replacement as I think that battery is faulty
and also, check the battery health status using BatteryInfoView from NirSoft
and disable "fast startup" before shutting down the laptop (if the OS is Win8.x, Win10 or higher)
NP940x3N battery dies with power off.
