    Need help with a display problem. NP-R519

    My display has gone bad.

    I purchase a new screen as can be seen being tested in the laptop chassis before full installation but it shows the same fault as the original scree (other photo)

    If I use an external monitor via the VGA port the image is fine (see below)

    I have also fitted a new screen ribbon cable but the problem still exists. The screen is set for the correct resolution and colour depth. I suspect a motherboard fault. Has anyone come across this kind of problem before? Any help or advice would be appreciated.

    I doubt your external screen would have such a good picture if the problem had anything to do with your motherboard, I'd check your inverter, There are many youtube vidoes showing where it is and how to change it.

    The screen in this laptop is an LED backlit and not a CCFL so does not have an inverter.
