Time to start a thread for this model. Andrew saw it at CeBIT, and details are starting to appear on the Samsung web site.
Samsung say it is 17" and the details on the CeBIT picture say 17". The resolution is only 1280 x 1024. So what are Samsung aiming for here?
The specs on the CeBIT photo actually show an X60 size and weight, which obviously isn't right.
More detailed specs are available in the User Manual which is another of those 100MB flash-enabled multi-language packages (Chinese, English, German, Korean, Russian, Spanish). These specs are attached (also for the G10, which has an AMD CPU). [The dates on the files show the manual was written in January 2007!]
I wonder whether this model will be aimed at the desktop replacement market, particularly for offices. It has no battery. If security is a concern then it can be easily be locked away at night. The weight is just under 5kg so this machine is barely portable. A further selling point could be lower power consumption than desktop computers. There's 5 USB ports for people who want to add peripherals, but no docking station option.
The main hardware is the ATI 1250M seen in the R20 / R40plus although Nvidia is also listed in the specs.

Very similar to the G10 but with AMD CPU.
Here is a link to G10 info: http://www.studentbook.de/gbook-g10.html
The G10 is more a desktop in shape of a laptop. It has no battery. -

Good point about the lack of a battery. It doesn't show in the bottom view of the overview.
I will edit my original post to remove the mention of battery.
Who would buy one of these?

It is alot cheaper then a normal laptop with 17". It is really a desktop and the price is ok for a compact desktop with 17" screen. Design is pretty good too if you have little space. It is similar to the Sony Vaio LA series and can even be compared to the iMac.

At that price and for the intended usage, I would rather get a R20/R40plus then add an external 19" LCD(or even 22-24") as their price drop almost every day.

I think the only reason you would buy this is if you like the design alot. Price is not great but not too bad either. Atleast the G10 is outdated, maybe the G15 is better.
It seems to compine all the bad aspects of Desktop and laptop rather then the good. Its like a laptop because it is hard to upgrade and like a desktop because you cant carry it around. Only advantige is that it is compact. -
The G10, G15 and G16 will not be distributed to UK retailers unless there is a massive change in direction, but currently with the new range of models being announced the R70 will be pushed over and above the G series as a desktop replacement.
You'll probably be able to get one from the EU though, but you can get better alternatives to them.
