Samsung have now posted the manual for the R510. The same manual is also linked to under P510 and S510.

It seems to follow the recent trends: The Fn key has moved and there is an HDMI port, but no Firewire port. There are integrated (Intel) or dedicated (Nvidia NB9M-GE) graphics options. The RAM is DDR2.

See the attached overview and specification files for more info.

I have found three UK versions of the R510 at More Computers:

    R510-FAA3 @ £469
    R510-FAA4 @ £522

    R510-FAA1 @ £613
They are all shown as restock date 28 July (but these dates have been known to slip). These have the new Intel GPU and it will be interesting to see whether this gives a good boost to the R60's battery time.

PS: 23rd July: ETA at More Computers has now slipped to 5th August.

One model of the R510 in stock at overclockers.co.uk.

    Update - 28th July

The R510 is now listed at various UK sites.

Computer Shopper has taken a first look. One very significant observation is a light usage battery life of 4 1/2 hours, which is very impressive compared with the R60.

PC Pro has a brief review of the R510.

This model doesn't have the black finish with red stripe but is in silver.

The three versions of the R510 are now widely available from about £440 upwards.

The P510 (business version of the R510 with matte display and XP downgrade) is now available. If the specs are correct it has also got a PC Card, not Express Card, slot.

I went to have a look at the review in PC Pro :
"If you can live with the dreadful, tinny speakers, which are a far cry from the superb music-makers on Toshiba's A300-177, and the less inspiring display"

    How bad are the speakers?

Does this model come only in silver? I cannot find that info anywhere.

I can't comment on the speakers. Audio quality can usually be improved a bit using the equaliser in the sound manager.

All the pictures of the R510 show silver. If you want black (with a touch of red) then you have to pay more for the R560 which has dedicated graphics.

Trusted Reviews have looked at the R510. They seem to think the second Fn key is a new feature but it is there on the R20 and the X60. It is very useful.
