Geez... I got the geek squad thing maybe I should let them to it ha ha.

Lol! IMO, if they were to break a tab, i doubt they'd tell you, and I don't think they'd be nearly as careful as an owner.
Check out this guy's video. You will see it's no worry

I'm looking to get a second power adapter, one to leave at home and one to take with me. Has anyone ever used one of the generic 90w ones off ebay? you can get them for like $20. if no one has had any problems with them, might be worth a shot since they are so much cheaper.
But if they are POS, does any good brand make a good one for less than the $80 samsung charges? -
Wow! This thread is too long.
Anyway, I'm sure everyone is waiting a couple of weeks so they can get a really nice deal for July 4th!!!!! I know that's a no brainer but just in case, I wanted to remind those who haven't bought this yet to wait for that sale.
Also, the S03US version that will have the crappier video card will likely be available by then too, although I prefer this version with the good gpu and slow hd(easy fix).
Cheers, can't wait to get mine, I'll have 7 laptops.
P.S. I want a right angle adapter for this baby. -
Notebookcheck.com has a review of this computer, with only slightly different specs. I think they liked it.
-
The reported external temps have me worried though tbh. Still can't decide between this one and the new XPS 15
-
Does the S03 really have a weaker video card? I thought all they changed was the HDD and removed the SSD cache ;/
-
S03US has same Nvidia 650M 2GB card.
Only difference is 750GB 7200RPM drive instead of 1TB 5400RPM & there is no 8GB Express Cache.
This was confirmed by Amazon after their discussion with Samsung. -
Thanks!
edit: Ok, now I know what you mean! Sorry ... -

Works great. -
I've come to the general conclusion that Easy Settings is a buggy mess. There's no reason toggling wireless should reset the display. And there's no good reason it should take as long as it does.
Unfortunately, I've also discovered that Easy Settings and the DisplayLink USB Video adapter driver don't play well together. With the DisplayLink drivers installed, igfxext Module crashes as soon as Easy Settings loads. Is anyone else using a DisplayLink USB graphics adapter? It works great when I uninstall Easy Settings, but that takes away a lot of important functionality.
Easy Settings also seems to move programs out of my Startup folder, even when I don't have boot optimization enabled. They still start, but I have no idea how they're being invoked. Uninstalling Easy Settings puts them back in the Startup folder. -
Has anyone gotten a Samsung Series 7 NP700Z7C-S03us yet? If so comments please. Anyone know what wifi card it has? How many antenna?
-
-
I guess we will see an translated version on notebookcheck.net soon.
So yeah nothing new to me really.
Main positives:
Screen is awesome (now also measured to be awesome).
Speakers are awesome.
Performance is very good.
Compact size and nice design.
Main negatives:
90watt PSU is too small and causes throttling under very high loads.
Keyboard gets hot in the middle (measured up to 53 degree celsius).
Trackpad
I'd definitively keep mine if I didn't have the wifi issues. -
I hope you guys can help me decide between this laptop or the ideapad y580. Im starting my first year of college in august and i need a new laptop and im gonna use it for video editing and photoshop too. What you guys recommend me.

Unfortunately the only lenovos here are the business models, not the "gamer" models.
I'm unsure about speaker quality and battery vs the 700Z series, but beside that lenovo seems like the better choice if you can live with the increased size/weight. -
The lenovo have Premium JBL speakers with Dolby Home Theater and the battery is only a 6 cell that they claim that give you about 5 hours of power but thats not a big deal for me.
-
Two reps told me a lie if your links prove them wrong.
Also, is there a num lock light indication?
What does FN + F11 do? -
-
I didn't find drivers from German Samsung website for my -s01DE version so can I install the US version ones?
-
Not sure what the 7/4 deal is referring to ?? Where should I be looking ? -
How does this Samsung compare to a MacBook Pro 17? As far as screen quality and performance?
-
I'm sure this has been asked already, but, well, 113 pages...
Has anyone tried out a Crucial M4 512gb in this? How's it fit / run?
Newegg.com - Crucial M4 CT512M4SSD2BAA 2.5" 512GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
I'm looking to place the order tonight since I need a few other things off newegg anyway. -
im sure it will run well.
-
[/RIGHT]
I ask it again, because I still struggle with my decision: Buying the Samsung 830, 256 GB or the Crucial M4, 512 GB. They ae both on the same price per GB. -
Isn't the Crucial M4 write speed too small? Corsair Force 3 has got 520mb/s vs crucial 260mb/s?
I think I'm going with Force 3 240GB, will it fit? -
Crucial M4 is still the best drive on the market. 260MB/s was with the first version of the firmware. I hope Crucial changes their specs on the retail boxes. You will reach close to 350-400MB/s. -
crucial is about 500mb/s.

I decided to give the Asus N56VZ a go after returning the 700Z7C. And well, to be honest......
The N56VZ has more issues than 700Z7C. So it's going back to asus with a sticker "Sorry asus, you didn't do your homework correct this time". http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus/664468-asus-n56vz-ds71-first-impressions-27.html
So for buyers considering the asus N*6VZ vs 700Z7C, the samsung is the the better choice (better screen, sound, performance, less issues - the only noticeable positive side with the asus is way better heat management (keyboard doesn't heat up)). -
Day 1 With 13.3 Inch 700Z3C (Ivy bridge) Core i5 3210 - nvidia GT 630m - (4+2) 6GB ram 1600mhz - 1TB (5400rpm) / (256 Vertex4 under win8)
Ok Here goes:
First of all.. what a load of bloatware Samsung.. God?!?! i Guess it took 2 min just to get the touchpad software to kick inn... annoying.
After spending a good two hours cleaning up. the Windows Performance index gave me something in the lines of
7.1CPU
7.3RAM
5.5Wingraphics
6.3Gamegraphics
5.9HDD (1 TB 5400 - i Guess 8gb ssd epresscache played a role?
Batterylife about 6 hours (at 80% charge limit)
Its quite silent (and there is even an option to set the fans in silent mode, which i dont see the point in... as silent as it is by default.
LCD screen is quite good - But as some of you have mentioned it does not give Black/Black .. but more in the lines of charcoal'is (gray - But it does not bother me - And goes from low light.. all the way to very very Bright.
I cant make out if the nvidia 630 chip is 28 nm (but i found it to be 64 bit - a bit dissapointing since i got the impression at wikipedia it was 128 bit.
I have not tried playing any games yet.
Then I opened the chassis and replaced the disk With my Vertex4 - and went on to install Win8 64bit Release Preview. It boots like a dream.. runs like a dream (BUT) I cant seem to get the Nvidia Card to work (the Samsung win7 driver won't work.. and the New Nvidia 302.80 win8 drivers will not install either - (no gaming yet in win8 i Guess) but the Ivy bridge GPU does Wonders for my surfing and general win8 experience.
Since i now have a fast SSD disk - How can i disable the expresscache disk (8gb ssd - ?) Or should i let the system run With both ? Any ideas. ?
Ah BTW: Here is the Windows 8 Performance Index numbers (take note that the nvidia card is disabled (no driver)
(win7 Performance index score has a 1.0 to 7.9 range but Windows 8 Performance Index from 1.0 - 9.9
7.1 CPU
7.5 Memory
5.6 WinGraphics (Beta drivers)
6.4 GameGraphics (no Nvidia driver)
8.1 Disk (Whql - win8 driver - RST 11.2)

Anyone using the samsung battery life extender on easy settings? And if so, how much battery life are you getting w/ battery charge capped at 80%.?
-
Without any exact measurement; about 3,5 hrs of office-like work with wifi enabled and screen brightness around 70%.

Got my S01US today from Amazon, here's some quick thoughts. I actually got the revamped HP Envy 15 first, and had some issues with it (fan noise, keyboard / trackpad not very good, etc). It had a gorgeous screen, but it just didn't fit me very well. After doing a ton of research, I went for this laptop, with the only 2 major concerns being heat and the screen.
1. Keyboard / Trackpad - great. Keyboard is solid, registers fast typing with no problem. Just a tad of flex, but I have to push directly on the spacing between keys to get it to happen. Trackpad is miles ahead of the Envy. I'm not a huge fan of the macbook-like buttons, but it works well. I'm using a Logitech M510 mouse also and it works flawlessly.
2. Speed - Very fast. Outperforms my older desktop to the point where I think I may make this my main PC. Even with the 5200rpm drive, it doesn't feel like I'm waiting that often for things to appear (I work with very large pictures and video files). Sure, a SSD would be great, and I may decide to stick the 1tb drive into the DVD bay as a backup, but for now it's working fine.
3. Heat / Video - I ran Diablo 3 (only game I've installed so far) for about an hour on updated Nvidia drivers via the Laptopvideotogo site. I can't get the in game FPS to work (must be some bug with updating this way), but I can tell it's alot smoother than the Envy 15 with the 7750m. The fans on this are fairly quiet, especially when not being taxed (almost silent). In game, they kick up quite a but, but it's still quieter than the Envy was, and not overly annoying at all. The heat is kind of an odd thing.... I'm not really sure where it's all going. I know where the exhaust is, but feeling the back of the laptop, I'm only feeling a small breeze of hot air. I think the hinge design might be impeding some of the cooling, but I'm not really sure... just an odd design. Using CPUID while playing that hour of D3, everything (CPU and GPU) peaked at 80c. Not too bad really. The keyboard did NOT get hot. The only area that was pretty warm was directly in the middle of the speaker bar and the lower LCD hinge (the LCD itself seemed cool, it was only the hinge that was warm). I'll test this more with longer sessions and other things to see.
4. Screen - Ok, obviously this isn't a IPS Radiance display like the Envy, but I have to say, it is a very good TN panel, probably one of the best I've ever personally seen. It does seem to have a bit of a blue tinge to it, I'll have to play with it some. Colors seem very accurate, glare is a non-issue, and viewing angles are actually not bad at all. Backlighting is even, and no dead pixels so far. I'm very impressed, considering the screen quality was a huge concern for me.
5. Sound - Beats the crap out of the Beats audio on the Envy. I'm a semi-audiophile so I'll be using my headphones alot, but seriously, this is some great audio coming from a laptop.
So far, I'm very happy! Only thing that concerns me at the moment is the heat during heavy load, but so far it's handling it ok. -
Hello, i have problems with USB 3.0 port, when i plug in an external usb 3.0 device (Western Digital), it is not recognized, nothing happens. The WD device is ok, when i plug in at USB 2.0 port, it's ok. I tested another USB 3.0 device, the same happens.
-
can someone tell me how the z7c´s screen compares to the z5a? i got the z5a and beside the screen, which is terrible (blacks, viewing angle, brightness), i love the laptop.
Samsung advertised the series 7 with 300nit brightness, the z5a has 220nit average. Did they manage to get the promised nit-levels on the z7c? -
-
The same happens with an iomega drive. -
Not completely, it's measured to 253 average on notebookcheck. But the black levels are awesome (0.3cd/m) and contrast is very good (870:1). To me the screen is close to perfect for a TN display.
I have seen TN displays with better viewing angles and slightly higher brightness, but those are not many. -
How does the screen compare to a MacBook Pro 17?
-
0.3cd/m is important, glad to hear that. i´ll probably get the z7c-s02at (austria) for 1299 -
Macbook use glossy screen, the samsung use matte. Some people prefer the glossy screen over matte.
I'd take matte any day. -
How can yours have a lower score on GPU than mine you have 0.1 better Ram score ? Btw i bought it on Komplett.no Norway yesterday. I posted some pics of gpu-z and WEI score.
The cpu-z tells me my ram is 800MHz but on komplett.no website is says the ram is 1333MHz so i'm abit confused here, is my ram really 800MHz ?
Or maybe is 1600MHz
Well i forgot to qoute you OC-Freak, this is from your last post on page 89.Attached Files:

WEI score varies sligthly, especially with different drivers etc. With latest nvidia drives I get 6.8 for graphics for example. WEI doesn't matter, game performance does.
The memory is 1600MHz.
