Man, I want this model, but thought it was doing to be around $1500. $1900 is a little overprice for me, don't know if I should buy it.

I know but visiting the three sites that is suggested @ Samsung you get:
    $1899
    and
    $2079

Who knows if any cheaper lower specced notebooks will be released though

It's been posted. Well not the pre-order stuff, but I think it's a bit expensive even if it's a gaming notebook. Plus I want to see actual benchmarks before jumping on board.

People think that the i7-3610QM is Ivy Bridge but we won't be 100% sure of the specs until Intel officially releases them.

The current pre-order price hike is for the benefit of the must-have-at-any-price people. Once their demand has been satisfied then the prices will drop.

    1 internal optical drive :)
The disadvantage is that you won't be able to put 2nd hdd caddy instead of it

Ya, there is already 2 TB worth of HD space, don't know why you would even need anymore than that.

There are a Few Machines that do have 3 Internal HDD Bays, like the Sager NP8180. Having a TB in Raid 1 would be great, with a nice big SSD to run things on.

This Samsung would be perfect for me though. I will rip out one the 1tb drives and throw a 256mb SSD in there.

They probably decided to give no chance to the idea of spoiling their nice machine by 256 mb ssd (which probably was ill oftenly in his childhood) to become true :D

Some notebooks (eg current Thinkpads) support mSATA. I could put one in my T420s, plus more storage in the HDD bay (only 7mm high which limits options) and a 1TB HDD into the optical drive bay.

For me, a 128 or 265gb SSD AND a 1tb Drive in that samsung would make the PERFECT machine for me.

I think it's funny that all the blogs post the pic from the Samsung website for this new laptop without a second thought. The laptop is the new Series 7 Gamer, the pic is the Series 7 Chronos.

Why so sure? Look at the measurements, the new laptop has a varying thickness (nearly doubles at the back), the laptop on the pic is flat (and looks 100% like the current Chronos)

Anyway, still an awsome leak ^^

True, i have noticed that as well.

I have to wonder why every laptop maker insists on making their gaming laptops all cartoonish, with light up everything, weird textures, knobs and other useless crap..

Just to add this rig will have a 8gb cache (?msata) AND 2x hdd bays AND optical. This will really give most other gaming laptop manufacturers a run for their money

    Right now these are confirmed:

MSI is also coming out with GTX 670M/675M models. :)
Asus "only" with GTX 670M in their G-series
    Alienware have M18x R2 and M17x R4 with 7970M and 675M
Sager doesn`t have anything confirmed but rumors are saying 670M/675M and even 680M.

Sager will likely have SLI versions of those too.

    Also "Confirmed"

    Lenovo Ideapad Y480 - 650M
    Lenovo Ideapad Y580 - 660M

Virtually every manufacturer will have Ivy Bridge machines by the middle of the year, obviously, but what surprises me is how prolific discreet graphics are becoming. This is wunderbar!

Agreed. That 650 in a 14" machine will be a real winner too. If they price those IdeaPads down to $800 like they have been, it will be hard to resist for a lot of people. Its a post-desktop world..

the question here is, what is the 650m for a card?

Now if its as powerful or even more powerful than a 555m this would be great!

    But looking at this

    [IMG][/QUOTE]

The 650m with the name N13 P-GT, 128 Bit falls into the mobile Perfomance category, while the 635m (which is already released and out there in the asus n55 and jay chou mystic special edition) falls into the N13 E-GE2 Enthusiast category, even though it is a basic rebrand of the 40nm 555m and a new core (GF116 instead of GF106)..

So the 650m could really be a downgrade or maybe its like the previous 550m, a castrated 555m

Also, according to the code name, the GTX 660M (N13E-GE, 128 Bit) seems to be the followup of the GT 635M (N13E-GE2, 128 Bit)

What we can do is only wait :)

EDIT: BTW there are many sites who have the codenames for example this one

    http://www.computerbase.de/news/2011-11/details-zu-anstehenden-28-nm-grafikloesungen-von-nvidia/

and if you check this out

    http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GT-635M.66964.0.html

You see that the codename is being used for that card

But in the end this is all just pure speculation :)

Keep in mind, the Bus width isn't the tell-all for a processor, especially after a Die Shrink. For example, the 8800GTX (one of the all-time greats) had a 384bit bus, but the replacement card, the die-shrunk 9800GTX, had a 256bit bus and was slightly faster. (It also had 512mb of ram, vs 768mb, though the 9800GTX+ upped it to 1gb.)

That said.. a drop from a 256bit part to a 128 is pretty drastic. Looking at the chart, i would say the 670M and 675M will be the sweet-spot parts in this round.

If this beast comes with a gtx675 than I won`t see any reason to buy the asus g75 with the gtx670 if they are around the same price. Though if this will have a gtx670 too then It will be a matter of taste to be honest.

Availability might be a factor too. Unless you are Buying Dell/Alienware/HP, some of the Asus and Samsung Models can be a bit tough to find, or have an inflated price. And that is if they even launch around the same time. There may be a few weeks or months between the paper launch and the physical product being available..
