Did you look in the user guide? It's explained on pages 174 to 176 in the English version. See this post earlier in the thread.

I just picked up this laptop a week ago and think it's excellent. I do have one problem which is the vertical viewing angles of the screen.
I like using one step above 50% brightness on the screen and when I tilt the screen enough for blacks to appear black at the bottom of the screen I lose definition with the dark colours at the top of the screen (dark colours blend together so I can't see much detail).
I'm just wondering if this is common to all x360's or if my screen is below average. A couple of reviews mention this problem but others don't and say the screen is great. It would be useful to hear from other owners of the laptop on this, thanks.

Yes this is common. Unfortunately Samsung did not use the best panels. They're very bright but lack contrast.

The difference in reviews you have observed is caused by the different quality of reviewers. Some of them are not really capable of distinguishing good screens from average screens. Surprisingly some of them are working for the largest magazines.

The guys at Notebookcheck make good reviews in my opinion. http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Samsung-X360-Premium-SU9300-Black-Notebook.14964.0.html

It's not just Samsung. The LG panel in my Dell E6400 is very bright at full brightness, but for best contrast I run it at half brightness.

Perhaps the bigger issue is the vertical viewing angle. It's not good if you can't get the screen at an angle which has acceptable contrast all over the screen.

I agree most panels go down in contrast on full brightness.

That's not what I meant though.

The Samsung X360 contrast is low, even at low brightness.

    Kontrast bei 100 cd/m2 :1 122,00
Kontrast bei maximaler Helligkeit :1 124,00

    Hello,

I need your help guys: could you please run Prime95 Small-TFT for 15min and tell me your CPU temperatures (with Core Temp 0.99.5 beta)?

Because my temps seems to be a little bit high (about 60C). Do not forget to run SPEED MODE :)

    Thank you very much!

    Best regards from Poland

I can't see the prices for the first 2. If you want an integrated optical drive then consider the Toshiba R500 / R600 here.

Alternatively, the Samsung NC20 is less then half the price of the X360.

Thanks John, there was 4 models in stock yesterday. Prices were at £651 incl VAT for the lower end model and £1089 for the 128GB SSD model. Somebody grabbed the deal.

May be they might get more.

I'm going to buy my mum a laptop in the next few coming months.

    Thanks

Has anybody tested Youtube high definition video's with this laptop? I would like to know if the CPU can handle those with no problem, as Flash-based video doesn't use GPU-acceleration.

    Hey,

I was wondering does anyone know where I can get a replacement LCD screen for the Samsung X360. I woke up one morning to find my screen cracked and I'm trying to find a replacement. I tried searching on eBay and I couldn't find my exact model (LTN133AT14). I've contacted them and I'm waiting for a quote to see how much it costs to fix it...

Also, if you guys can check, can you find out what's the model number of your LCD screens?

    Wouldn't any 13.3" LED fit?

I mean you can get a lot better than the panel that was originally in it.

13.3" 1440 x 900 LED exists. First you'll have to find someone who sells it. Try Google or Ebay.

Then you'll need to build it in. I have never replaced an LCD screen before, but I've heard it's possible. You may want to ask for support in the Hardware forum.

    Speed mode:
Stress: 58C (4 minutes of stess)
    Idle: 43C

    Silent mode:
Stress: 62C (then fan kicked in)
    Idle: 48C

Interestingly. The clock is faster in Silent mode (1.6GHz) than in Speed (1.2GHz). Although the voltage is much lower in Silent mode.

I don't think I can just replace the LCD with one from another manufacturer - as the connections would not fit.

As far as I know they use the same connections. But I'm not sure.

If you want to be sure I suggest starting a thread in the hardware upgrades forum.

Try pressing escape while booting, that usually gives a boot menu.

    Hi,

is someone using rmclock or something similar on this notebook / cpu? It shows here only multipliers of 6.0 and 7.0, and doesn't seem to have any effect, especially when using the samsung "silent mode".

With out getting into trouble as I am under a specially TOS agreement. I can tell you Samsung has plans in the next week or two to update the X360. I am not allowed to say what they are, the price, or if its worth it. All I can say is look at intel's site for hints on what it could be.Damn it if get caught my membership will be revoked.

So I am confused about a few things. A few reviews of this machine say it comes with an external DVD drive, while others make no mention of it or say it does not. I am in the states and I want to know does the North American model come with an external DVD drive? Thanks.

Is the optical drive standard or optional because the reviews made it out to sound like it came standard. That listing shows it is optional? So is the drive optional or standard? Thanks.

Newegg makes no mention of the ODD being included. Nor does PC Connection .... It is possible that an earlier batch of X360s came with a bundled optical drive. Now you get to choose your own. Most of the latest USB optical drives will run from one USB port.

I am going to assume its is more of a regional thing that they dont include it. I would have gotten one for sure if it came with it. I guess I have to look at the Lenvo and Dell again as they include it(Dell has no web cam and the Lenovo has the older IGP & the external runs off two usb). The Samsung would have had best of both worlds if it came with the ODD standard.
    Thank you.

I purchased one in Poland a few months ago and it came without the optical drive.

On a sidenote, if anybody's interested, I tried installing The Sims 3 on my X360 recently, not having access to my desktop, and surprise, surprise - it runs great! It slugs a bit on the highest settings, but with everything tuned to medium, it's very pleasant to look at and everything runs smooth...

btw. of course I only installed it so that my gf could play. ;)

I know VT isn't enable in the BIOS but anyone figure out how to get it working for the samsung x360. Such a great laptop yet missing an important feature.

    Update

Just want to note VT is enabled in the BIOS on the X360... Windows 2008 server with Hyper-V works just fine.
