I updated to the latest Elan trackpad driver on my Chronos laptop recently and noticed a couple things. 1) I had previously disabled the "natural scrolling" to make it work more traditional (not like OSX). This seems to no longer be an option and I can't turn this feature off. Was this option removed?

Finally, 2) there doesn't seem to be an option to disable the inertia scrolling, which I find annoying. Is there no way to turn this of now? I could've sworn both of these were options before. There's nothing relating to these in the advanced settings. Thanks.

Find the driver installation package (you may need to download it using the Save option in SW Update) and see if it contains ETDAniConf.exe which provides more configuration options than Samsung's control panel.

If you find nothing there then check the more recent end of http://forum.notebookreview.com/sam...hronos-np700z5a-trackpad-discussion-only.html (which contains our accumulated wisdom relating to the Elan pad). This includes discussion of registry hacks.

Thanks. Seeing as I had absolutely no issues with the previous driver, I'm attempting to revert the driver. I rolled back the driver via device manager, but it seems to have disassociated the touchpad control panel (which NOW contains the settings I was missing) with the actual mouse. So now I'm trying to figure that part out now.

Is there a way to download old versions of the touchpad software from samsung's site? Thanks.

Ok, I kept the new driver and used the utility you mentioned to control additional settings.

Why the hell would they have removed those features from the main UI? Now I have to keep this other utility around to change settings?

Getting off topic, but was there mention of a process to roll back the driver? As I mentioned, I tried to roll back the driver in device manager but it seemed to disassociate itself from the reverted mouse driver (though it showed the older control panel for the trackpad).

Glad to hear you've got it sorted.

I can't explain why Samsung keep tweaking their software and leaving out useful features. We have similar problems with their Settings program where the latest versions have left out some of the previous features.

I also can't explain why the driver roll-back breaks. I keep a big archive of all the driver versions I have used so I can easily reinstall the previous driver.

You can find most versions of Samsung's drivers by rummaging through the Find Model facility in SW Update. Start by looking at the entries for your notebook and you will usually find different versions of the driver listed for whichever of Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 are offered and then you can look at the entries for other versions of your notebook. Then you can can look at the entries for other notebooks. Series / Book 5, 6. 7, 8 and 9 since the start of 2012 (B onwards in the model number) have usually used the Elan pad but a simple check is the driver number.

@rpeters83: I posted some additional comments and suggestion for you here in the Trackpad Discussion thread linked by John.

As described there, I recently rolled back to Touchpad driver version 11.7.10.4, not so much because it has the Reverse Scrolling option (which it does) but because the newer version 11.7.19.9, which I had been testing, caused my touchpad to act erratically, while the older driver is smooth as butter and responds to every touch as expected. But I recommend uninstall/re-install of the Elan driver instead of rolling back with Device Manager.
