I just picked up the 17.3 incher last night and finished all the Windows updates and am wondering about the MS Office options. The two apps I have to have are Word and Excel so if I plan to install Office what options and prices are there -- I don't want to start the process before knowing...

As I recall the cheapest option used to be the Home/School plan and that's about $100 -- is that still true?

But, Win8 is around the corner and I may upgrade ($15) to it but what does that mean as far as Office 2012/2013 versus the bundled Office 2010? That is, if I install Office 2010 now then upgrade to Win8 what are my options for the new Office?

Office 2013 is still in Beta testing and I don't think they've announced pricing.

Office 2013 is designed to make far more use of "the cloud", which you may or may not want. Many people will be using Office 2010 for a long time to come.

Well I do have and use DropBox but I'm not entirely sold on cloud computing (privacy, etc). I think I could be comfortable staying at 2010...

OK, so I downloaded Office 2010 Home & Student for a total, with tax etc of about $116 last night.
