Has anyone had issues with the port cover for the NP900X1A breaking off? So far, both of my port covers have come off.

Samsung designed the port cover for the 11" Series 9 differently than the 13" Series 9.

The port cover for the 11" Series 9 pops up and away from the laptop, but then you have to slide it away from the ports, and down the laptop body to gain access to the ports themselves.

Unfortunately, the port cover is only attached on the edge by a piece of plastic that is a few millimeters thick creating torque on the cover itself. To compound the issue, since the laptop is meant for mobility, it is extremely hard to move the laptop around when the port cover is open without touching the open port cover.

This is an unfortunate design issue since the rest of the laptop is design so well.

So far, everyone at Samsung says that the port covers breaking off is considered "Accidental damage" and is not covered under warranty. Unfortunately, no one is willing to consider the possibility that it is a design issue.

    Any advice?

I have one of the earlier 11.6" Samsung Series 9 since they shipped in May. Both of my port covers are still on and happy. I do on occasional forget to close them and then put it my laptop case, but that doesn't seem to have affected it. I actually hate having these port covers and at one point consider removing them all together! Just feels like a waste of time everytime I need to access the usb or stereo plug. They do look better on though. Sorry to hear that both of yours broke off.
