I've read many threads all over the internet about the WiFi issues on the Samsung series 9. I really want to find a solution because I really want to buy one of these laptops. Anyway, I'm a pretty savvy computer user and used to troubleshoot for a living and the solution below seems the most plausible, but I don't see that many people have tried it and it's not mentioned in many threads.
Can a few folks that own the laptop give this a shot and let me know?
"I can't speak for the Broadcom WiFi card, but for the Intel card (and perhaps also for the Broadcom card), the issue is with the default power management settings. If the laptop works well when plugged in and using the "Samsung Optimized" power plan but works poorly when not plugged in, this is your issue. To fix it, go to Control Panel (View by: Small icons) *or* right click on the battery icon in the system tray area, then select Power Options. For the current plan, click Change plan settings, then click Change advanced power settings. Expand Wireless Adapter Settings, expand Power Saving Mode, then set Plugged in: to "Maximum Performance". This is the only setting that works properly--I've tried all of them. Make this change for all of the power plans, or at least all of the ones you intend to use."

Power management would be one of the first things people tried
In my case it did make a difference, but it still sucked compared to my little Asus netbook. -
Not related to power management. Samsung has fixed the problem in new Series 9 that have not arrived in USA yet.
It involves an Intel Centrino 6300 WiFi adapter with the 3rd antenna on that going into the hinge area or up into the screen bezel. -
Great news! How do we identify these fixed laptops? Anyone have an model number?

EDIT: Note that none of the points in the above paragraph should be treated as facts. It's all info that I've gleaned by doing web searches...
Samsung USA will not give me any info on any U.S. model upgrades or new models.
