My nephew received a new Samsung RC512-S02 notebook for graduation 2 weeks ago. This morning when he went to plug it in to use it and recharge the battery, he noticed that the case was melted at the power jack and the power cord was extremely hot.

Has anyone experienced similar problems? Is there a site I can visit to check the see if there is a known issue inherent in this model?

I've seen no reports on this forum of anything similar. I would wonder if there was a manufacturing defect that caused an electrical short circuit (I am assuming that the melting occurred when the computer was plugged in to the power supply).

 Yes, I purchased the exact model of Samsung laptop in March. My cord melted, and damaged the computer beyond repair within 2 months. What a waste!!!!!

So was the computer replaced under warranty?

Hi, I've had my rc512-s02 since may and have had no problems. I do have one question, I was wondering if the samsung has 2 2.5" hdd slots like some other 15.6" laptops do? The owner's guide on my samsung rc512-s02 was unreadable so I deleted it, now I wish I had it, so I could look this question up! Thanks!

I don't know of many 15" notebooks that hold 2 HDDs. The manual is here (the web page is for the -S01 but I'm sure the manual is the same).
