    Hello,

My dad has purchased a series 7 laptop for me about a couple months ago. I'm a senior in high school, if you're curious. Anyways, this is a great a laptop however there are some issues with it. I have a heat issue with this laptop. I keep it elevated, and clean it regularly. I sometimes will play a game, and sometimes the CPU temperature can reach 90Cish. On idle, I'm around 60c. I understand laptops run warmer than desktops however, I feel these temperatures are a little too extreme. I tried to undervolt, however my CPU isn't supported by the software. =/

Another problem (not as serious), is that my volume key doesn't work sometimes. I'll push FN and hold it and then push f8 (volume up) and it'll work but then other times it wont work and I'll have to adjust it manually and then it'll work for a bit afterwards. I notice it happens when trying to bookmark in firefox too. I will push ctrl + d and sometimes the bookmark option comes out, othertimes it doesn't..
I'm not sure what the problem is, any tips?

    Thank you for reading,
    Zealex.

Have you got all the drivers, software and BIOS up-to-date? Easy Software Manager should help with this.

    Hello,

Thanks for the replies. The temperature is roughly the same. However 90c isn't too bad? I know for desktop CPU's you don't want over 60c ever, but a laptop I understand runs hotter..but still 90c sounds dangerous?

I am using Easy Software Manager, and I updated Easy Support Center but the installation failed. I uninstalled through the control panel of windows, and I'll try reinstalling it again to see if I got any luck.

I updated everything on the laptop however I just had another issue where the volume fn key didnt work again. I notice East Software Manager Agent says something didn't installed correctly. I hover over and click it but I don't know what installed incorrectly...

    Any advice?

    Thank you

The fn key controls are in the Easy Settings package. Download it and install it separately.

90C isn't too bad, many laptops hits 90c or more during gaming.

Take this as an example (it's from my asus n55sf):

It hits 98C max while playing diablo 3, still it's perfectly stable.

I uninstalled the easy settings package again, and downloaded it from the website.

I still have the same issue :(. Maybe try an older version?

Dang...208F/98C. That's crazy hot.. xD. I guess heat isn't too big of an issue, but still I'd like to keep it cool as possible. Maybe I should try an external fan?

I would consider what scoots said about disabling turbo boost. When I first got my series 7, I would be in the low 90's when playing games that shouldn't be that CPU intensive. So I disable turbo boost by setting max cpu usage to 99% under power options and now when I play the same games, the CPU doesn't go over 80C. The CPU was turbo boosting regardless of whether I needed it or not which contributed to the extra heat. Also I just played D3 this morning for about 2 hrs and the temperature of the CPU never went over 80 degrees as well. Good Luck.

You go to power options>> the option you are using>>click change plan settings>>change advanced power settings>> scroll to processor power management>>maximum power state>> set to 99%

Alright, thanks for that. Yeah CSS goes around 78-83. Not bad I suppose.

Anywho, this laptop has a 3.5mm mic/headphone port mix....this would work fine right? For a headset that has a seperate mic and headphone slot
