Hi
Have any of the Q210 owners here installed a Turbo Memory module on their machine & if so have you noticed an appreciable difference?
Thinking of adding one to mine & wondered if it was worthwhile!
Thanks
Gavin

Hi,
I was just thinking the same question. I'm thinking about buying a Q210 but for some reason all of the shops listing the laptop don't even mention the fact that it may or may not have Intel's turbo memory. I wonder if anyone can enlighten us. -

Page 41 of the User Manual shows a place for the Turbo memory module.
It is possible that this year's version of TM works better than last year's which caused more problems than benefits.
However, it's at your own risk.

Hi.
Their is a compartment on the bottom of the Q210 that is described in the Manual as being for the Turbo Memory.
I removed the cover and there is no connector, and you can see the circuit board where the connector would go!
"Manic Penguins" Q210 is the same as mine, no connector under the cover!
EDIT : I wonder were the WiFi card lives, their is only 1 other panel and that is the HDD, unless it under the HDD? -
I did prize open my Q210 in the end, I was able to get to the keyboard and shiney cover off so no pics of the heatsinks/cpu/gpu which is a shame.
Where is the CPU and GPU on the Q210 anyway, there are no hotspots on the laptop apart from the heasink on the far left.

Hi.
2nd pic,s the best, the silver mounting plate with 4 screws holes , were the RTFG keys are on the keyboard looks like the CPU mounting , the cpu is under there , you have touchpad written on it? -
"Touchpad plug", refering to what I circled there, to the right of the silver H crossed twice.
EDIT: I still dont know where the GPU is hiding though -

I used the supplied Samsung Vista disk to format and install my C drive as i did not want the bloatwear of a restore partition!
The Vista disk is just like installing from normal Vista DVD, exept it dose not ask for a serial number as it is pre-activated
then using the driver dvd, select custom install and untick, anything you dont want and then press start and the whole process is automatic.
I wonder if the Samsung Vista DVD only works with Samsung Notebooks? -

A question for Manic Penguins as I see he has managed to open up a Q210.
Before orderding my Q210 I downloaded the manual to see how hard the memory upgrade was and it looked reasonable so I ordered a Q210. I received it this morning along with some memory to upgrade it to 4GB. I have removed the 3 screws from underneath as the manual suggests but I am having trouble with the so called 'keyboard hooks' as described in step 2. Trying to press all three in far enough simultaneously is proving impossible and then once I have done that step 3 is not overly clear to me.
So, Manic Penguins I would be grateful for any tips, what tools you used etc as you have obviously done this from your pictures.
Many thanks,

You should be able to release the "hooks" one at a time by pushing the hook back and lifting the keyboard slightly so that it is no longer under the hook.

John,
Thanks for tip, got it out in the end, after a few scary moments. Once I had released all the 'hooks' using the 'one at a time' method you suggested the keyboard was still reluctant to come out. It seemed to be stuck each side near the speakers. I was trying to lever it out and it was coming up in the miiddle but refused to budge at the sides. Tried a couple more times, thinking it either comes out, or I'll break it, and finally something 'popped' on either side and came off. I can only assume there was something sticky underneath the keyboard on the sides that needed some 'gentle' persuasion to release.
It now has 4GB and needs a 64bit OS to make the most of it, which is todays task.
Thanks again,

It is possible that there are small tabs on the sides of the keyboard that go into slots in the chassis. Lifting the keyboard up in the middle (as you did) releases these.

Any1 know if you can put in a mini pci-e 3G card??
Is the space for Intel turbo memory a mini pci-e slot?? if so you can put in this 3G card that have the sim card read on the card it self.

I think integrated 3G will only work if Samsung have built the antenna into the computer and provided a cable between antenna and slot.
John -
Well it's easy put in a antenna in a laptop that don't have any so thats no problem.

Hi.
The turbo memory slot on the bottom of the Q210 does not have any connector inside, so you cannot use it for anything.

John.

Dam
It's so dam hard to find a 12" notebook with about same spec as Q210 and that have the option to put in a 3G card
Well it's easy if you are willing to pay 2000-3000€ :/ -
