I have an annoying display issue I hope someone can help with.

I am using my Q320 by connecting external peripherals to it - LCD monitor, wireless keyboard and mouse etc.

The external LCD display is connected via a VGA cable.

Recently, when I boot up the laptop, the image that appears on the LCD display is a lower resolution than it should be.

This is, I believe, because the NVidia Control Panel software has failed to detect the external LCD screen at bootup and therefore sets the resolution to the one I use when using the laptop as a standalone.

To revert to the correct resolution for the external LCD display I have to open and close the lid of the laptop in order for the NVidia Control Panel software to think I have stopped using the laptop as a standalone and subsequently set the correct resolution on the external LCD display.

The strange thing is, this didn't happen when I started using the laptop like this and only happens intermittently now (but still quite frequently).

It's really annoying as I'm constantly having to re-arrange my Desktop shortcuts.

Anyone any thoughts on what's causing this and how to solve it?
