After doing loads of research, I have decided to buy a Q35 (and I think it will probably be a red one). Can anyone tell me whether it will run 'old' games like The Sims (i.e. the original version, not Sims 2)?

I want it mainly for writing/emailing/web, so I am not too bothered if it can't run games, it would just be a good extra :)

Also, is it worth paying what appears to be a huge chunk of the purchase price for insurance? I'd be grateful for any opinions on this, as the shops (unsurprisingly) are all biased towards it...
