Hi, i've just got my RF510 this week and the build quality is excellent. It runs very quiet and very cool. I cannot compare it to the Dell in your spec as I have not seen it but compared to the two Dell's we have in the house the Samsung oozes quality.

One thing that is missing from the Samsung is eSata which I found rather disappointing.

I note the following differences: Samsung & Dell

Chipset: Intel HM55 VS Intel HM57

Graphic Nvidia Geforce GT 330M 1GB VS Geforce GT 435M 2GB

    Memory 4GB DDR3 VS 4GB 1066MHz DDR3

    HD 640 GB 5400 rpm VS 500 GB 7200rpm

    Wireless LAN 802.11bg/n VS wireless-n 1000

I wonder which wireless is more modern & better? Except for the wireless the Dell's seem to be more up to date.....

I have been looking into this this morning and searching for an answer as you were "foundation".

I hope some one with computer knowledge and know how will answer to your question-I am eager for an answer like you.
    Regards

You can see the difference between the HM55 and HM57 chipsets at Wikipedia. Basically, the HM57 can support a few more I/O devices which may reflect Dell's wider range of options.

You can see the difference between the GPUs at this notebookcheck mobile GPU table. The 435M is faster.

    The RAM is the same.

You can compare the HDD performance at Tom's Hardware (but results vary with specific brands).

Intel's Wireless 1000 is a b/g/n adaptor so it is essentially the same as the Samsung offering.

Overall, the Dell has a (~20%) faster GPU and overall performance may also be influenced by CPU choice (which you can compare at this notebookcheck mobile CPU list). However, raw CPU performance only matters for CPU intensive activities.
