    Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has an R20 which is not affected by the grainy screen problem reported in UK Magazine PC Pro (amongst others)... not sure if it is a design fault or just a few bad units.

( I have an R20 14.1 2GB T5300 sitting in the corner unopened which I can return... but only if it is unopened / re-sellable).

The sample that I checked in John Lewis (UK) seemed pretty grainy - not unusable - but certainly worse than most of the other screens on display (with the possible exception of the low end Toshiba Satellite 15.4 non glossy which was really washed out).

    Any experience out there ?

There was a little discussion about a grainy R20 screen in the R20 thread.

The earlier R20s had very good screens. I reviewed one R20 and subsequently bought another. They both had T2250 CPUs and good displays.

It does appear that Samsung may have dropped the quality of the R20 display. Perhaps they are trying to get rid of the grainy panels which Dell couldn't shift? I've not kept up with discussion in the Dell forum but a one stage the Vostro 1400 was having grainy screen problems and I recall Samsung was mentioned.

Is there any indication of date on your box? What is the model number? The T5300 was around some months back and it may predate the display quality problems. Check the long R20 thread for what models were available when.
