    R70 upgrade to blue ray drive

    Could anybody advise if i could upgrade the internal drive to a blue-ray drive? is it possible / will it work? ((if yes where could i buy it from))
    also want to output to HD TV 32' via HDMI output on laptop
    or would i have to buy a desktop drive and palce into a caddie hope this makes sense.

    thanks for the reply :) , well i'm after outputting Blu -Ray to my HD TV really. but i didn't want to buy another unit to sit ontop of my cable box & dvd cinema system etc, its stupid that i have this HD tv thats not used really to its potential, so could i use a desktop unit and put it in a caddie & plug it into my laptop and if i wanted to output to the tv? as you have suggested?

    When I think about it, it should, but I've never done so before, I've only done it with harddrives.

    I'm doing this all from Amazon btw...

    You can either buy a proper external one with all drivers and cables ready to run, I found one for £136 and its 4x but only a BD-ROM.

    However, you cound try buying the drive itself and buying a caddy and just hope it works. Total should be around £80, only 1x but it is a BD-RW.

    If you did a little more research you might find someone thats done it and you could save yourself quite a substantial amount of money

    yes thats what i thought, but its good to see what others think, thanks for your help will look into it further, i think you can get more for you money if could use a caddie but just not sure if it would work?
    will take a look a CD freaks
