Recommend a compact power supply for Samsung Series 7 Ultra?

Can anyone recommend a better power supply for my Samsung Series 7 Ultra? (for use in the UK)

I want something that is compact and light. I don't mind paying a bit more for it. It would be nice if there was a good way to tidy up/fold away the cables (the original was quite messy - with cables that are hard to fold up.) I have lost the original power supply /charger / power adaptor, but would like to replace it with something smaller/lighter/faster/easier to fold up etc if such a thing exists.

Does this notebook use the 40W PSU with 3mm plug - same as Series 9? (The photo here shows the small power socket). If yes, then you have a good range of options is you search for the Series 9 PSUs although none are designed to have the cable wrapped around them.

The best place to look is ebay. Some of the chargers are genuine Samsung and some are compatible. I recommend something which has an L-shaped plug (like this) so the cable runs to the back rather than sticking out of the side. However, first you need to check the plug size (it's most likely 3mm or 5.5mm outside diameter (= size of socket in the computer) and also the power rating (which should be on a label on the bottom of the computer).

Update: I see that notebookcheck mentions a 60W PSU in which case it is not the same as supplied for the Series 9.

Yes, the plug is very small - 3mm I'd say. Yes it matches the smaller power socket in your first link. However according to the back of the laptop it's 60W not 40W.

It has been intensely frustrating trying to find a power supply that is:
A) compatible & reasonably fast
B) light
C) compact
D) well made

I don't mind paying a bit more! However on Amazon everything seems to be a multiple listings of the same thing but with keyword-rich titles with almost no description and almost no mention of weight! (i.e. the cr*ppy nightmare that is alibaba.com!)

PS This part on Amazon seems to be only 122g - whereas most alternatives seem to be like twice that weight.

On the down-side it's ugly, rather fat and it's hard to fold the cables, but worse it cant bet delivered to UK address for 10 days.

Did I mention I need it FAST! (Whereas everything on eBay seems to take c1+ week to arrive).

Like I say, I don't mind paying a bit extra - price is not an issue.

 

This genuine NP930X5J charger is rated at 60W (zoom in on the label and it says AD-6019P). The price is very reasonable (the chargers came in but the computer got cancelled) but you need a cloverleaf cable because it isn't included.

Yes it looks increasingly like I'm going to have to settle for either the original/genuine charger or something of very similar design. And nobody seems to care about what these things WEIGH? (WTF - why not?)

I find it disappointing that it seems that nothing either more compact nor lighter seems to be available. Not for any money!

 

The bigger the power rating the bigger the PSU (but this might change that rule). There's a much better selection of 40W PSUs. You might find that one of these would work as long as the computer is set up to cut back on battery charging if the CPU & GPU are busy. It might be worthwhile buying one as an experiment, preferably with a mains socket power meter so you can monitor the power going into the PSU under different conditions.

My current Dell E7450 has an Nvidia 840M GPU and came with a 90W PSU. However, I found that it will actually work OK with an old Latitude XT 45W PSU (one of the thinnest PSUs I've come across).
