    Hi

I cracked the LCD on my Q35 :( and now have a replacement LCD but I can't get the inner grey plastic cover to come off so I can replace it. The sides come away quite easily, but the corners are much more secure and I don't want to pull too hard in case it breaks the plastic. Does anyone know how to get the cover off?

    Thanks

    How did you crack it?

If it's still under warantee I'd recomend replacing the whole thing rather than just the LCD.

It was in a computer bag which fell on its side. Not a big drop but it was on a hard floor and I heard the thump. The screen still works, its more the glossy surface which cracked. Should be easy to replace if I could get the cover off!

I have not needed to dismantle the display on my Q35.

However, I would expect that there are screws under the three rubber pads along the top edge of the display. I would remove these first. I have looked at the joint along the side of the display. This is held together by a series of hooked latches which you should be able to see on the attached photo. I was able to start unlatching this joint using my thumbnail by pushing it in and then lifting the back of the display over the hooks. Probably the bast place to start this is along the top once you have removed any screws.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get on. It would be useful if you can provide some photos.

    John

Thanks for that John. I should have realized ;) . The 4 corner pads have screws behind them, but the middle grey one does not, which made me think it wasn't screwed down. After that, the LCD is easily replaced.
