Hey all, have a Samsung laptop here with a smashed screen.

On the back it says model number NP550P5CL, but has a barcode underneath stating the model code is NP550P5C-A08UK.

Searches for screens using both code provided different results at different price points, ranging from €150 - €1000!

At which point, I had it looked at by a local repair shop and the model number for the screen is LTN156AT19-001. They couldn't help me in sourcing a part - said they couldn't source one for at least a month, if at all.

I did some searches on Ebay and Google and I'm seeing screens priced from €400+, which is significantly more than what I'd reckon the laptop is worth and not far off what it was purchased for 2 years ago. Other screens of the same model were going for €950+, and then some for as little as €100.

Can anyone help me out? I'm at a loss here, can't source anything at a reasonable price which I can't understand. Doesn't seem straightforward.

A quick search suggests that different versions of the P5C were sold with 1366 x 768 and 1600 x 900 resolution panels. This might explain the different panel numbers. If replacing the panel then upgrading to 1600 x 900 gives a useful benefit. If both resolutions were manufacturing options then you won't have the problem discussed here.

The wide variation in price might be explained by who is doing the selling. The least expensive will be either specialist display suppliers and the most expensive may be official Samsung parts. Two other display features that need to match your notebook are the connector size and location. You can photography the old panel to make sure this information is available.

Thanks for that, really helpful response. Very much appreciated!

I've made some phone calls to local suppliers this morning and I've been told that there is a global shortage of this LTN156AT19-001 display. Wait time is two weeks or more, which is a real pain.

Alternatively, I'd be happy to swap the screen with an alternative one that I can actually purchase quickly, but I'd fear it not working or ordering something that doesn't fit despite my best efforts with photographs. A long shot, but do you know if this is possible or what models would be compatible?

I've attached photographs taken of the display with the lid embezzlement apart. I hope this helps.
