The price was about 1100 British pounds including taxes. If you bought if from a UK supplier to take / have delivered to USA, then the cost would be about (930 (price before VAT) x 1.95 (exchange rate ) = $1800, plus delivery.

Hi, nice review. I was wondering if you tested whether or not the HDD is user replaceable...?

Most definitely replaceable. Two screws to remove the cover (see one of the photos) and then two more screws hold the connector in place. A Samsung HM160JI went in once the review tests were finished (in this case the HDD came out of my previous X60 and everything ran fine except the graphics driver). To avoid reinstalling all my software, I use an external caddy and Acronis MigrateEasy / TrueImage to clone the existing HDD.

Let me dig out this old thread. For some reason the forum doesn't have a dedicated X60 plus thread like it has for most of the other recent Samsung notebooks.

My X60 plus had been gathering dust since mid-2007 when I got my 14.1" Zepto 6024W. However, the Zepto has gone for some heart or brain surgery so the X60 plus is back in use.

One of my previous problems with the X60 plus was that the 1680 x 1050 resolution was a little hard on my eyes. This time I installed the latest Omega ATI driver and then changed the display resolution to 1440 x 900 (the Samsung ATI driver does not include this option). Everything is a bit bigger and my eyes are happy.

Going back to the X60 plus after over 6 months away has made me appreciate that it is fundamentally good machine. Very solid construction, a much better keyboard than the Zepto (aside from the paint wearing off) and very quiet. 3 USB ports does seem a bit limiting after getting used to 4. The battery is down to about 1 hour. The bigger display size is nice. If only Samsung could squeeze it into a smaller chassis (hint: 14.1" WXGA+ LED backlight).
