I need my next laptop to drive two monitors. Has anyone had success driving two monitors with the HDMI and DisplayPort in this model?

    Thanks.

You can use either of the ports to extend your display. If you want to drive 2 external monitors, use a VGA or HDMI splitter. Here is one on ebay for about $6.

I think the issue is that he wants to use 2 monitors with different content, not mirrors.

Windows 7 will support an extended display so there is different content on 2 monitors, but I am not aware of any way to get different content on the base laptop monitor and an additional 2 external displays.

    SO this CANNOT be done?
    ANYONE tried it out?

    I can get 3-4 extremal monitors on a dell e6420 (i7 + 3000 +nvidia 4200m) on a E-dock. I wanted to replace with Samsung chronos 7 but maybe not?

I'm sure that the Intel HD 3000 can support two external displays but you will need to check the specs of the AMD GPU to see what that can do. Switching between the GPUs depending on the workload is where it could all go wrong.

Have you looked at something like a Plugable (USB graphics processor)? I've heard good things about them, but haven't used one myself.
