I accidentally wiped my harddrive today, clean of all Samsung partitions. This left me to reinstall Windows 8. I installed SW Update from Samsung's website and it left me with a program that allows me to download the installation files but not to go keep my software up-to-date. Every time I start the program I have to enter my Model Number and select the update file I want compared to it recommending them to you. Is there anyway to get the original SW Update back without sending my laptop back to Samsung for a reformat?

Currently running Windows 8.1 Developer Preview

    Thanks in advance,

    Tom

SW Update is the same for all models. If you downloaded it from Samsung, it should detect your machine and offer compatible drivers.

The problem may be that you're using the 8.1 preview. It has shown to be severely incompatible with these Sammies. We're waiting for updates from Microsoft or Samsung - or both.

Try regular Win8 or Win8 pro (whichever came with your laptop).

I can confirm this is due to 8.1 preview. Detected fine for me on 8, but doesn't on 8.1. Should be fixed with the upcoming release of 8.1.

Exactly the same issue. I am sure it's due to Windows 8.1 Preview.

Samsung will need to issue an update to SW Update to recognise the 8.1 signature.

They are unlikely to do this until they have worked through the 8.1 compatibility issues.
