    Hi,
I would like to buy a memory and upgrade with it ultrabook Samsung 530U (NP530U3C-A06CZ). I find in the specs, that the memory should be DDR3 1600MHz. What I don't know is the CL value of the memory. Which memory should I look for? With CL9 or CL11 or other value? I couldn't google it.

It doesn't matter. The BIOS will look at the SPD data on the modules and work out the fastest timings that can be used.

I don't see an issue with the compatibility but in the best chosen performance. Don't you think if there is CL9 on-board module and I will add additional CL11 module, the final computed timing would be CL11 (slower than CL9)? I would like to add the best option -> If on-board memory module is CL9 then I will buy CL9. If the on-board memory module is CL11 I will buy cheapier CL11 additional module. Why should I buy more expensive CL9 if it is not neccessary?

If you have the computer then you should be able to find out the timings of the current RAM using CPU-z or HWiNFO.

    Hi John,
I didn't buy the notebook yet. It will be with the additional RAM module in one order, so there is no way I can test it.
Good news are I have found performance tests with results from the CPU-Z: Review Samsung Series 5 530U3C-A01DE Ultrabook - Notebookcheck.net Reviews

CPU-Z test confirmed the Samsung Series 5 on-board RAM module has CL11 timing. It's not the same model as I am buying, but it's almost similar.

    Thank you for your help!
