The 550P series includes the 15.6" NP550P5C and 17.3" NP550P7C models and released in May. Features include JBL optimized speakers with subwoofer, Bluray in the 17.3" models, a minimum of 1TB storage, Ivy Bridge i5 or i7 processors with NVIDIA GT 650M 2GB graphics. These notebooks were included in Samsung's claim back VAT offer in the UK and ROI.

I'm wondering if anyone has managed to get their hands on one of these new models and what their impressions are of this notebook?

The launch in the UK has been a bit of a shambles with all stores currently out of stock! I am still waiting for my order to arrive from Play.com (which had the item on preorder but no longer even list it on their site for sale!)

    Thanks guys, great info!

Good to know I made the right decision. Little concerned that the screen is getting such negative opinions, especially as I'm coming from a Sony VAIO which had a fantastic 1080p screen, but hopefully it won't be quite as bad as they make it out to be. I won't need to worry about heat issue as I've opted for the considerably cooler-running i5 instead of an i7. Also good to hear about the long battery life and great gaming performance!

Can't wait 'till mine arrives :D

Ah lucky, you guys are! Here in UK only 17.3" version has 900p screen and all 15.6" models have 768p screen. Maybe we get a different version compared to other countries? The website states that it is an LED backlit screen, so should have acceptable contrast and brightness.

But if it's the same 900p screen from the Chronos then we are not that lucky ._.
The most atractive part of this laptop is definitively the speakers. JBL makes great parts :)
