    Samsung 550p i7 notebook...

    Hi Forum,
    hope someone can help...My new 550p samsung does not want to go in sleep mode, or start up on restart.... does not want to hibernate or shut down with power off when i shut down... I have to push the power button down to force it down. Any suggestions? thanks...

    Hello legalfin, welcome to the forum. And congrats on your new laptop. Sorry to hear about the trouble you're having. Let's see if we can help you out.

    Is this a new installation you made or are you running the original factory installation? Did you change any BIOS settings or partitions on the disk? Also, I assume it's Windows 8, right?

    If it is a new installation you made, make sure you have the basic Samsung drivers as well as the Settings program installed. This post gives you some guidance; even though it's for a different model, most of it is the same.

    If you are running the original factory installation, I would first try restoring that factory installation using Samsung Recovery (press F4 immediately after power on). If the problem still persists after restoring the factory installation, you should contact Samsung support -- or even swap the machine at the store, if that is an option.
