Hi guys, please can you help.

I've had my 7 Series Gamer for two months now, on the whole, it is a great laptop. About a month ago, the glass table I had the laptop on, smashed, and the laptop fell on the lid side, scratching the lid, but I did not notice any issues with the screen itself.

Yesterday, after unplugging a faulty external monitor, I noticed that certain areas on the screen were dimmer than others, in particular, the bottom right side is dimmer, and around the middle left where it is very feint, a kind of blotchy, leaky dimmer. The screen seems brighter down the bottom left. The dimness is faint, but apparent if I look closely enough. It is more apparent on a white background.

Maybe the average user may not notice, but I do. There does not seem to be uniform brightness across the screen. I don't remember seeing this before yesterday, but I did have an external monitor plugged in for a day. ( I have worked my way through three faulty monitors, each with different problems, but that's another story.) I noticed that the bezel/edges of the laptop were snapped out today and I just snapped them back in.

I'm wondering whether the screen is supposed to be like this, and I am having a case of being overly critical? Or the screen should be perfectly lit all over and there is a problem which could have been caused by the fall or something else? Has anyone else experienced this at all?

To my eyes, the dimness is more apparent the longer I leave the laptop on.

I enclose a screenshot of the screen on a white background, hopefully, you will be able to see what I am seeing.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Many thanks,

    D.

The screenshot shows uniform white which is what you are supported to see. You need to use a camera.

Some variation in brightness is normal. See the reviews at notebookcheck which include display brightness measurements. It's a technical challenge to achieve completely uniform backlighting. Local bright or dark patches would suggest screen damage.
