I pre-ordered it from Amazon instead. I was so close to just buying it for in-store pick up and driving up on Saturday (now its outta stock). Reason got the best of me though.

wow, the silver one is $50 cheaper than the black one on amazon!
-
People in california can order from jr.com. The price is $1599 for the black one. You can use ebates.com to get 3% cashback. Also no tax. seems like a deal
-
and could someone who already has one please tell me if the screen bezel is glossy plastic. that would be disappointing for me if it is. -
Anyone know if Samsung will eventually offer a build-to-order option? I'd really like to upgrade to 8GB RAM.

I need your help. I keep getting the weird pattern of green dots. Reinstalling video graphic drivers didn't make any difference. see the video...

I'm so pissed off if I have to return this. any advice appreciated. -
@latinracer, you have access to an external monitor?
does it do the same thing if you display through an external monitor? -
Latinracer, you mentioned this started after you did the windows updated driver. Why don't you just roll back or uninstall the updates? Or, just do a recovery or use the default graphic cards driver if online.

What is the size of windows footprints between the A02 and A03 versions? And any more reviews out?
-
Could somebody please clarify (possibly again -- sorry) the difference between the versions?
Thanks. -

Samsung Series 9 (NP900X3A) laptop review -- Engadget -
Also ordered mine from Amazon now that the preorder was up. I had just ordered from Dynamism when the Amazon link became available (thanks for the heads up from whoever posted that in this forum). (I am a prime member so it just makes sense). I wonder if they will get stock at the same time as some of the other online retailers. It still seems like this computer is generally out of stock at most places except for those who pre-ordered very early and got early limited availability. Dynamism lists Apr 1st for all models, while calling some of the other online retailers still report mid-april. Guess we'll see, anyone else hearing anything.

Is the a02 worth the extra $50? or just go with the a03?
-
well i think ive more or less decided against it now. mainly due to the lack of proper storage size and lack of mouse buttons for the scroll pad. 128gb simply isnt enough for an 'ultraportable' laptop, especially one at this hefty price. at 256 i might have gone for it but now i think im more likely to go find a less thin laptop for a much cheaper price and decent storage. shame

Which port is on the side for video? Everyone is reporting mini-hdmi but it doesn't look like it.
Mini DP(M) to HDMI Cable
mini HDMI to HDMI

I'm officialy pissed off. It turned out that my laptop is most likely defective. I restored the original image and same damn green distorted pixels appeared agaom. Out of all the laptops I end it up with a bad unit. I'm going to dump this pos @ best buy in a few minutes. I can't believe that they can't provide any backorder status. I think i'm going to hold on as you never know this could be a problem with the first batch.
anyone that has one care to comment and let us know if you have notice this. -
Thanks. -
latinracer,
did the green distortion happen during the boot time? how about when accessing bios? -
Only in windows from all the test i did and it does it when the battery is low. It seems like a hit or miss. I would test with a monitor but I couldn't find the cable adapter at all the stores I went to. I'm returning it for another. It's really early to start having problems and not worth keeping a system that might cause more problems later on.
FYI... Best buy pick up seems to be back in stock. It updated just a few minutes ago. I'll find out today when I get to the store. Hopefully they do have one. -
Another review, this time from Laptop.com
Samsung Series 9 (13-inch) Review - A Review of the Samsung Series 9 (13-inch) -
I'll throw this one out there again: anyone know if Samsung even does build-to-order and more importantly, will they offer it for this model?
-
non of the reviews give a high wow factor... hmm

Have any of you looked into the new Sony Vaio SB? I know it's 1 pound heavier than the Samsung, but otherwise it looks pretty good -- and about $600 cheaper, too.
Just curious... -
I just looked it up. As a possible plus it has a DVD drive, but it doesn't seem to come with an SSD. Anyone know if that's an option?

I prefer the lighter and higher resolution Vaio Z over the SB. That said, the Samsung 9 Series is a different market. If you keep adding weight, thickness, and removing vital components such as SSD and USB 3, of course the price will seem like a better bargain. Looking forward to the Samsung 9 Series 11.6... if only Samsung start shipping them!

latinracer
how did you get it for $1,686.96? the blasted wesbite says $1749 right now -
I found the answer on the Sony site. In order to get the SSD on the SB you have to add the i7, Radeon HD 6630M and there's no single SSD, it's a dual 128GB in Raid 0. All of this bumps up the price from $969 to a whopping $1819. Swing and a miss, Sony!
Check out the configurator if you want to build one yourself.
-
TrueDis, what do you expect? Find me a 13" laptop with i7, Radeon HD 6630M, and dual 128GB SSD for less than that.
-
-
I called them up, they said management changed it and there was nothing he could do. Just barely missed my chance. I couldn't justify spending an extra 100 for an A03 model.
-
-
Yes, but I don't want the i7 or Radeon HD, just a single 128GB SSD. It's the fact that it's all or nothing.

I wonder how this is going to go with Amazon. I preordered with them earlier this week as soon as a link went up. I ordered the "A03" model with Amazon listed as the seller. Now, my order (which was placed just 2 days ago obviously) links to the computer being sold by Beach Camera at a different price!!?? The computer is no longer listed as being sold directly from Amazon on their web site. Huh? Wonder what's going on.
There's always risks/benefits from buying from Amazon as there is really no human being to talk to about what's going on. Wonder if my original order will be cancelled soon for some reason. -
