    Yes, I know that windows 7 is better, but I need windows vista in my samsung 9.
    I'm trying to install it with a bootable USB, but I can't.
    when installation is starting to copy windows files, I receive this error message: "Installation cannot continue error 0x80070070"
    why this happens? should I have to configure something in bios?
    I tried this same bootable windows vista usb in other laptop and it installed perfectly

    I also tried installing windows 7 and windows XP in the samsung with no problems, only windows vista is giving me problems
    Is this computer uncompatible with vista?
    thanks

    I wonder if you need to load the SATA driver for the Intel chipset when there's the option to press F6 (if my memory is correct) early during the installation process. You will need to get the driver from the Intel website - it may be necessary to extract it from the chipset software and either put on a flash drive or someone easy to find on the hard drive.

    @BorjaZD

    Is there a longer error message or did you just get that short one?

    Another two possibilities are that (1) the Vista install is not seeing enough free space on the disk and (2) there is problem with the installation copy of Vista.

    hello, thank you for your help.
    ok, the situation is that I can see the HDD partitions before the installation process, when I select the partition and click "next" the installation starts to copy files, but when it goes in 3% the process stops and receive the following message:
    "windows cannot copy files required for installation. the files may be corrupt or missing. make sure all files required for installation are avalible, and restart the installation. Error code 0x80070070"

    The partition has a lot of space (90gb)
    I think it not a drivers isue because installation detects the partitions

    I tried the same copy of windows vista in other laptop with ssd drive also and installed perfectly

    so I don't understand what's happening
    it could be the possibility that this computer is not compatible with windows vista?

    If it works with XP, and Windows 7 then it should work with Vista. But, if I may inquire what do you need with Vista that Windows 7, or even XP may not offer?

    I've never heard anybody in my life say they need windows vista and I fix computers for a living. I'm not saying you don't but I can't think of why.

    @BorjaZD

    You may want to recreate your source, bootable USB. Something doesn't seem right with that. The Samsung install would probably use some different drivers in in its installation -- I think John Ratsey was on the right track.

    Doesn't really help you, but I created a bootable Windows 8 Developer Preview USB and successfully installed that. It would only do a 90% install and then stop when I tried the installing after booting into Windows 7 and then running the Windows 8 Dev Preview install.

    Use vLite to build your own Vista boot disk which includes the drivers for your hardware and the various vista service packs and updates.

    the reason I need windows vista is because I can move folders freely as I want, I don't know why seven does not have this feature

    Do you mean customisation such as setting the library properties to use you own location for the documents folder? If so, it's easy in W7.

    yes john, I know that option "sort as, modified, created, etc..." but sometimes I need to place folders in some order that any of those options match
    do you know some trick to activate this feature in seven?
    thanks

    I don't fully understand what you are trying to do but I'm sure that it will be feasible in Windows 7. The ways to make some settings were changed.

    You can customise a lot using "Organize" and "Include in library".

    Better with an image, hope you can help me john

    in windows seven you can't place your files freely in a folder, as you can do in vista

    This may be a different approach to the problem: I have been using Total Commander for the past 11 years all my file management becasue it is much easier to use than Windows Explorer. It may be worthwhile for you to look at what it offers.
