I just got a Samsung ATIV Book 6. When I play sounds/music/videos/etc. at a certain volume, pitch, or quality, the right speaker (which is on the bottom side of the machine), will make a buzzing, scratchy sound, and I'll have to turn the volume way down to get it to stop.

I'm not sure if I'm describing this well, and I feel like there's a technical term for what's happening (feedback..?) but it's really annoying. It's partially dependent on the surface it's on as well - sometimes it lessens if I put it on my lap or a different tabletop or if I hold it up/elevate it, making me think that some part of the speaker is vibrating with certain sounds.

I tried taking a video but it doesn't pick up the noise very well. Any opinions? Is this worth going back to the store and trying to get a replacement? This happened with my last Samsung notebook (the series 7 chronos), but the replacement only helped a little.

Feedback usually appears as a howling noise which quickly gets louder (as it feeds itself) unless the volume is turned down. I don't think that it's your problem but you should be able to check by temporarily the microphone in the audio controls (right click on the speaker in the notification area and select recording devices).

I would tend to support your theory about the speaker vibrating at a particular frequency. There are various tests available such as this. Play the video and see whether the buzzing occurs at a specific frequency (and see the range of your notebook speakers and/or your hearing).
